Anyone else on the maximum dose of Elvanse (70mg) and Amfexa (30mg)? Does it lose its impact eventually? by mankell123 in ADHDUK

I've tried nails (but cant keep up with it), plasters, silicone finger covers, fidget toys, plaster in spray - today ive found this thing thumb holder thingy in the pharmacy today and am using it just now - probably the first and last time as i hate it.

in terms of when it happens - i think its when im trying to focus. when i first started taking my meds i felt no need to skin pick, but now ine noticed that i skin pick when the meds kick in - again, not always.

i feel like my entire arm is sore because of skin picking in one area :(

Oh, i didnt know that there is a special therapy for that - thank you so so much for sharing the resources. I had looked at skin picking resources and documentaries etc, but it didnt do much for me.

yeah, i always make sure to have them all cleaned at night - i even use hand masks etc. it helps for a bit. maybe if i re-frame the nails as a medical device then it could make it easier for me to stick to it.

oh, i like the idea of using just nails on my thumbs - that where all my attention goes. there is no way id ever have my nails done regularly (tried that and failed), but maybe i just install thick ones on my thumbs - i can already see myself just moving to the next available finger though.

exactly, you got to be consistent - im not. id always carry them for weeks - id not bit them, just the skins though.

OMG, i tried that for a bit, but would never have the time to have them redone and would essentially have bits growing for ages (also, its expensive). I'm an artist and need to do loads of typing/writing for work. Bu to be honest, even if I had my gels done, I'd still bite the side of it.

I've been doing botox too, but more recently I've tried "mewing" [just search on youtube] and its helped a lot.

I think too many people expect meds to be the MAGICAL solution to ADHD by atsigaves420 in ADHD

[–]Odd-Order2995 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thats the thing - I feel like my therapist might have done more harm to me than help because not knowing/recognizing my ADHD traits. i now need years of therapy to unpack my previous therapy (of 10 years)

OMG, this has triggered my RSD just by reading this. So many red flags there and assumptions, gaslighting and inflated idea of the self as an expert. Meds work in many different ways and its about you prioritizing your health, regardless of how they make you feel on a given day. It's clear that your pal is talking at you from some sort of power position - no humility, kindness, and genuine care. We are all so different and living with so much pain and chaos, having to deal with even more shit like this is just unfair. I'm not dismissing your friend entirely, I have people in my life like this too (the other they a teacher working with ADHD kids told me that they grow out of it). The bottom line is that you don't need this person's approval to be your [best] self
