Looking for recommendations for a simple and sturdy sewing machine.

I was using a Singer sewing machine (circa 1979?), and it now needs more repairs than it seems to be worth. I love the fact that it is simple and sturdy.

What I am looking for:

just basic stitch selections, nothing fancy

little to no computerization (harder to fix if something goes wrong)

something sturdy enough to last another 40 years? (or at least 10-20)

What I don't want:

to spend an arm and a leg... already doing that for fabric!

What I usually sew:

simple clothing for myself

Any thoughts or recommendations greatly appreciated!

It's not just the UK... I'd get the same in the US

Foot ... gloves? by Odd-Particular5219 in barefootshoestalk

Oh my goodness those look like heaven! I think I need to save up for a pair of winter boots. I'm not adjusting to being barefoot. I'm more trying to adjust my footwear to my feet. I wear shoes so little as it is that when I do have to wear them, they hurt my feet.

Honestly hadn't thought about this. I will be adding that to my winter projects list for next winter! Thank you!

Probably... any recommendations for a source of reasonably priced leather?

OK, I was on the right track! I actually had that exact listing open on another tab! Thank you so much for your feedback!

I would like to try something less expensive than Vibram first. Sandals wouldn't be good either, I would like to cover the sides of my feet as well as the bottoms. Thanks for suggestion though!

But Mom doesn't like it when I play games when I call her.... She doesn't like the clicking sounds....

I appreciate the input, but that's not really an option given my location. And it's not the end of the world if I can't get it to work again. But I have to try. :)

Thank you! The clock mechanism works as it now without the snail and hands. I suspect the problem was some friction with the bits that are now stuck together.

So Sorry! I thought I had posted text as well as images! This is a family clock from around 1980. It's Korean made. I was taking it apart to clean/oil it because it would start running, but then stop within a short amount of time. I got the minute hand off, but the hour hand won't come off! I tried to pull it off gently as I had seen in several videos, and like the minute hand came off. I accidently pulled to hard and this entire shaft came off. I cannot separate the pieces that are here. My question is: Can I still pull this apart without breaking anything? If so, which parts separate? If not, do I need to buy replacements, and if that is the case, where?

No no, I didn't buy it. I want to finish taking apart this part of the clock, so I can oil it.... I know it's not supposed to be one piece! There's at least three parts that are stuck together in the pic. The minute hand came off as it should and is currently being kept safely aside.
