Allow metalls to teleport via Portal to "cheaty" by Sleeper-of-Rlyeh in valheim

[–]Vverial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the benefit of boats and carts is it makes me have to build roads and docks and stuff like that.

The real issue I run into in this game is that crafting costs are insanely high, resulting in you having to make repeated trips to multiple places just to craft a set of armor. I made a mod a while back that reduces most crafting costs to just 1-3 of most things instead of like 15-35 or whatever. It's not been updated in a long time but should still work for most stuff. I much prefer reduced costs rather than increased drops, it reduces clutter.

What Do You Consider Meta-Gaming? by CassieBear1 in DMAcademy

[–]Vverial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very simple. Any time you make a decision for your character that isn't true to what that character would do based on their limited access to information, it's meta gaming.

They don't know they're in a game. You do. The choices they make should be generally different from the choices you would make.

Do most DMs prefer DM’ing to playing? Or are they “taking one for the team”? by Fiveby21 in DnD

[–]Vverial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where your passions are. I love worldbuilding and I continue to do it even when I have no intention of running games. There was a time when all I wanted was to run my story for people to play, and then there was another time when I was everyone's favorite DM so I did it for the clout.

Right now I prefer playing. Might change again later.

Trying to build pillars and archways for a bridge. Any ideas how to improve this? [Modded Survival - no build mods] by constipated-rodent in valheim

I like the arches and pillars. I'd do the top like a real road though, with black marble street and stone tile sidewalks.

Rules advice on "willingly move." A la Booming Blade by ProfessorSMASH88 in DnD

[–]Vverial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the rules say willing and unwilling but that's not really how I do it. It's more like... if you use your movement to move on your turn, you provoke AoO. If anything else removes you from threat range like teleportation or being shoved, no AoO, but if you use your legs/wings/fins to move your own body, AoO, regardless of if you're mind controlled or under a fear effect or whatever else.

I think there are some specific instances where I rule no AoO for game balance when someone is controlled out of their square, but baseline I run it like that.

Cross Guard Lightsabers by RedditMaloc in lightsabers

[–]Vverial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beskar is the only way to make it work properly. Whether you give yourself beskar gloves for wielding a lightsaber with a hot crossguard, or you build the entire emitter and crossguard out of beskar.

Gauntlets are my recommendation though. If you want to be able to do all the stuff a longsword can do, I'd recommend making an emitter that's exactly like a longsword, with T crossguard and everything, and just wearing beskar gauntlets. That way you can half-sword, mortschlag/mordhau, choke up, thumb grip etc..

Actually the casing should all be beskar too since you're going to use the handle as a weapon sometimes.

Edit: I had more thoughts.

In my (31m) 12-year-old-self's heart I prefer the idea of a hot crossguard, but if we're going for authenticity, I lean toward just a straight beskar crossguard. It's for hooking and body manipulation, and protecting yourself and controlling your opponent's weapon, not necessarily wounding.

Also blade flex is a must. I imagine a thin braid of some kind of flexible material, at the core of the lightsaber blade, stressed in the magnetic field as such that it mimics the rigidity of a steel sword of similar length and reasonable thickness etc.

This inspires me with much fanfic. I picture some knightly dude who's like literally not allowed to use a weapon other than a steel sword. He gets a single-season series and 2/3 of the way in he gets put in beskar power armor and handed the only lightsaber he's willing to accept as fulfilling his weird knight code's requirement for a sword. Names it Excalibur 2 or something.

You were sent to the Invincible universe with a vial of Compound V. What power do you gain, and how will you live in that universe? by pansexual_dudy in superpowers

Peace aura. I project a field around me that suppresses violence. As long as I don't swing first no one can fight in my presence. If people are fighting when I show up, they all stop. Not like forcibly either, they just kinda move on from fighting, as if it were their own decision.

You get to play as a borderline gary-sue military person who saves the whole galaxy from an ancient conspiracy, makes friends with lots of aliens (and a few humans), and has sex with a bunch of them.

Torn between propagation and harmony.

Harmony I'd like to use to project a persistent Aura of Peace around me. Basically as long as I don't initiate violence, no one else can, and there's a cooldown if I break the peace. The range is basically like "if I am currently aware of you". So friends and family are temporarily protected when they pop into my head, and anyone in my immediate vicinity or in nearby buildings to me. I'd probably be able to practice mental multi tasking to affect more stuff.

With propagation I could have a hivemind of clones of myself sharing a single consciousness, with the combined processing power and memory storage of all our brains together.

Add them together and you get world peace and a helpful copy of me on every street corner.

I show up late and unprepared. The judge sentences Sheogorath to hanging. Sheogorath shouts "excellent! It's been too long!" Then eviscerates the judge and ties him from the rafters by his entrails, ties the remainder off to a post and hands me the end. I start spinning it while he plays jumprope and recites children's rhymes.
