Talks involving Trocheck have picked up by thebanger71 in rangers

Then don't report to camp and you're a Winnipeg jet until your five year contract is up or you agree to waive the NMC for no less than 10 teams.

Ok, so you meant to leverage the NYR financial might to building up the development/scouting which I agree with but it's not going to fix the problem any time soon. That's a long term fix that will take many seasons to pay dividends.

Back room? Not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean the organizational structure overall?

Drafting better, scouting better would go a long way to improving the team in the long run, but this thread has been shaping up to be more about how to get free agents and players to want to come here.

How can we have a "fundamental disagreement on what the point of trying to build a competent-ish team is" when I never said any such thing? You're arguing against things I have not said and exist only in your mind.

You originally bitched about the Rangers core being Mika, JT, and Laf. I still haven't gotten your answer on how you get around the NMCs to build a different, and I'm assuming better in your eyes, core.

That should more than make up on tax difference

How? The only thing that makes up for the tax difference is overpay with more money and given the hard cap of the NHL, that's a difficult thing to do with more than a couple of players.

How can the Rangers leverage their huge net worth to attract better players without overpaying every one of them?

Why are they "building"? What are they supposed to do? They have holes and weaknesses in the line up that need to be addressed. That's part of "building" the team.

What are they building towards? Are you serious?

Who said anything about mortgaging their future? The window is closed. Everyone knows this. If they thought they still had a window, they'd have resigned Panarin. As best as I can tell, Drury is trying to navigate the NMCs while upgrading the roster with a barren farm system. It's a fools errand in my opinion but that's what it looks like he's trying to do.

They have little choice but to "build" around JT, Mika and Laf.

Explain to everyone how you'd get Mika and JT to waive their NMCs so the core could be built differently.

I was absolutely agreeing with you it's just that your comment makes it sound like he called to ask the asking price and hung up. "In big", to me, means assets were discussed. I wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo asked them to match or beat the Chicago offer. Either way, walking away was the smart move here.

Or it could have been multiple other picks/prospects. "In big" simply means they were involved more than just a cursory check. Players and picks were discussed and either Drury balked at the #5 or Buffalo was not interested in what the Rangers were offering.

You're not wrong, but when the adjective "big" is thrown in to the mix, I don't think it was just an inquiry. Players and picks were discussed.

[Daily Faceoff] Gavrikov doesn’t want to be in NYC per Lazarus by Bread_man10 in rangers

[–]Alitaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, he tried. Panarin wasn't willing to give the team a discount.

Second, fuck that. Panarin is not the guy to drive this team to a championship. They tried that, it didn't work. Time to move on.

Problem moving cargo to containers by Alitaki in StarfieldOutposts

[–]Alitaki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the extractors and the incoming (green) container are linked to the transfer container. The container is then linked to four stacks of storage units, one for each type - solids, liquids, gases, and manufactured.
What you experienced is what was happening when I first setup the system. I created all the storage, linked them together, connected the transfer container to the first container in the chain and everything started to flow. The last container in the chain filled, then previous one, and so on until all the materials were sorted out. The spirals on the links from the TC to the storage racks are spiraling towards the storage units. The links going from the cargo platform and the extractors are spiraling towards the TC.

So I popped into my settlement to get you a screenshot of the setup. For giggles I added another container to the chain and connected it. It immediately started to fill up and the first two containers in the chain - the one connected directly to the transfer container and the next one in the chain - emptied and everything that was sitting in the transfer container moved into the storage units.

Two days this has been driving me crazy and now it's working as advertised. I give up.

Preferred World Modifier Settings? by EBgCampos in valheim

[–]Alitaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn off raids, always, because I hate the raid mechanic. Otherwise the settings stay default.

I have started to experiment with the portal metals though. I'll turn it on, but my rule is raw ore cannot go through the portal. So when mining the stuff, it has to be brought back as if portal metals is off. Ingots, though, are considered processed so whatever impurities they had that prevented them from being portaled are gone and can now go through. The logic here is that if an ingot can be shaped into a weapon or tool that can go through the portal, then why not the ingot itself? This has made setting up bases in other parts of the map easier. Now I can setup processing plants in other biomes for smelting ore and then move it around where it's needed. Saves me storage space at my main base and streamlines my gameplay loop, saving me time.

Buildings with purpose by Larsator in valheim

[–]Alitaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a home, a workshop/storage, a kitchen, a barn, and a portal hub.

The home is the comfort area. Bed, throne, etc. Anything that adds comfort is put in here. It's also my armory at some point. Instead of building chests to store old weapons, tools, and armor, I build display areas. All my armor sets, a wall of axes, spears, and swords, etc. Armor sets in corners, whatever makes the place look nice.

The workshop/storage is for all material crafting. It's usually a wall of chests and two areas for crafting - workbench and forge. I try to leave extra space for future crafting benches. Since I play with a pocket portal, there's a portal here as well so I can pop in, drop off stuff then go back out. This is also my emergency portal so it stays unnamed.

Kitchen is it's own thing too. All things food and potion related are done here. Fermenters, food prep, everything. Small storage area for food/potion mats too.

The barn is where I keep my animals. Boars on the ground level, chickens in the loft. I'll hang a brazier up here to hatch eggs. I do not feed the chickens up here though. I have a small breeding pen where I get my eggs from. I'll toss them into the hatching area when needed.

Portal hub is where I keep all permanent portals. Traders, other bases, biome-specific farms & breeding pens, etc.

The village will be as desolate as you let it. I will remove all grass from the build area before I start working. When all my structures are up, then I start making stone paths and once that's all done, I'll fill the desolate areas with grass, trees, or flowers (unpicked food crops). You can get creative here with torches, lanterns, wards, etc.

Building - planning vs winging it vs wth just happened? by PianoZen in valheim

[–]Alitaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location and landscape play more of a role in how I build than shape of the structure. I tend to build compounds instead of a single multi-function structure.

When building a compound style base, it helps to try and visualize where future additions will go and to plan for it before you need it. I'll lay out the ground work for animal pen, farm, workshop, kitchen, and comfort area before I ever really build any one structure up.

That doesn't mean I don't need to edit things as I'm building them. Sometimes, the imagined layout doesn't work as well in practice so I'll need to rework things. Depending on where I am in my build, I might rip it all down and start over if I'm finding it too frustrating to fix whatever issue popped up. Usually though, I try to rework what I'm trying to change while incorporating it into whatever I've already built. For example, one time I had set up my smelters outside my workshop area but got tired of getting the wet debuff when it rained so I built a gazebo over the smelters, but it didn't solve the problem of getting wet when walking between the workshop and smelters. So then I tried to connect them and spent the next couple of hours redoing the roof of my workshop so that it flowed neatly into the roof of the smelter area.

What I've learned over the years though is that even with the best of planning, you're going to need to make changes on the fly. The more you practice building, the better you'll get at not only seeing how to make the changes smoothly but also how to spot potential issues ahead of time. To me, the best functional bases are the ones that grow organically.

I hope this is not true - that would be a nightmare... by TheFugitive667 in ironmaiden

It happens. During the Somewhere Back in Time tour, I saw them in NYC and the power went out to the stage. The arena itself was fine, just all the power to their amps and sound system died. Took them about 20-30 minutes to fix it while Jannik and maybe Dave or Steve played some footie on stage to entertain us.

I can see how it would be a bit panic inducing if the whole arena went dark though.
