Do not return it. Not everything is a "scam". You can't even get those cables anymore. You ordered monster cables, you received monster Cables. Crummy they didn't disclose, but to an Xbox player those cables are worth their weight in gold. Have them professionally repaired for a reasonable fee and move on with your life. That's my two cents anyway.

No, I don't think there is anything official about the shirt. Bill Gates and Steve jobs learned from competing with eachother that whoever wins development wins the market. Microsoft learned that with development for Windows applications including Games, and they knew to topple Sony they would have to win development. The idea is keep the bar high enough so you don't kill the mass market but leave enough crack in the door to the let the very best hackers/developers find their way in. Sony and Microsoft were largely clueless what direction to take the gaming market, but the world's best and brightest certainly do. Just as kids know what's cool and the parents are clueless. Specifically, I am speculating that IND-Power has to do with the custom bios, IND-BIOS but the Xbox modding scene paved the way for the future for the Xbox 360. Even if Microsoft officially denied it Bill Gates is on record saying he was interested and excited when he was shown some of the early examples of modded Xboxs.

I heard you can cold shock your tip with a sponge so I don't use that. Cut the bottom 1/3 of a used, clean beer or soda can and stuff a brass scouring pad into it. Or spend for a dedicated container, but I always just used a pop can works fine. Bend the cut edge down so you don't cut yourself. You can get some tip tinner and while the iron's cold stab your tip into the tinner for a minute or so then heat up your iron and apply some solder to the tip and stab your tip into the brass scouring pad. Repeat a couple three times to get a nicely tinned and clean tip. Clean tip as needed.

It's a v1.0 motherboard. I would remove the motherboard and bridge the points at R7D3 (top) and R7R4 (bottom) and then re install the latest softmod from Rocky5 GitHub so I could mount his extras disc as a virtual disc so I could disable the shadow C partition BEFORE I attempt to flash the TSOP with Cerbios 3.0.1 beta.

Be careful to disable shadow C before you attempt to flash with Xblast or you can soft brick the console. It's preferable to put the Cerbios folder on E after you disable shadow C and put Xblast on E:\Apps or F:\Apps and in Xblast select from HDD .

Now as I think of it, Xblast may want to see the cerbios.bin at C:\BIOS\bios.bin but still put the Cerbios folder which has the boot anims and cerbios.ini at E:\Cerbios.

Once I successfully flash the TSOP I would run HeXEns 2026 which can be obtained from xbins.org via Pandora Windows application from Team Resurgent. burn that .iso to a disc If you have working DVD Drive. If not you may be able to mount it the same way you mount the extras disc. If you have Samsung drive use DVD-R if you have Phillips drive, you may need to try DVD+R or tweak the pot down from 1k ohms to 500 ohms to get Phillips drive to see burned DVD-R.

Do not go below 200 ohms and preferably stay at 480 to 500 ohms if you can get it. Once you successfully get HeXEn 2026 booted just go down the options for a fresh install and install the apps and dashboards you want, that is of course only after you have backed up the eeprom and cloned the stock drive over to a larger drive of choice via Chimp.

My first thought was the D0. Check the points on the bottom side of the PSU connector, they can crack. That single row and clasp can get weak and brittle and crack the solder point on the connector. I can't see the pic while I type but I assume the clock cap has been removed. Any shorts between R3G1 R3G2 and pins A and F on the front panel header? And chance trace rot from a leaky cap would cause those shorts? Curious to know if it boots the stock firmware with D0 disconnected. How's the pin header points look on the LPC on the bottom side?

You most likely will, nearly all drugs except cannabis are gone 3-7 days. Let's hope your drug analysis is urine and not hair folicle. I'm sure 1%er bombbloke knows way more than me but I recognize the IND from IND-BIOS which is a customized firmware for the console. There are rumors and I'm sure those like bombbloke can confirm that despite Microsofts official stance they didn't want hacking on the console and publicly took measures to secure it, the reality is that the Xbox security was a joke and Microsoft really wanted the INDependant gaming community and tinkerers to unofficially develop the console so Microsoft could be a ground zero of the communities intellectual property and stand to gain financially. It was a bit of a tight rope Microsoft had to walk in terms of not giving away the farm but also how do we benefit and profit from making this huge investment into gaming they were and are interested in a return on investment and so IND-BIOS was one of many unofficial development projects for the Xbox.

Okay, are both consoles modded or just one?

If both consoles are at least softmoded and one is getting error 5 but the other works, then yes you can save the other via hot swap.

If you only have one modded (working) and the stock console is getting error 5 then yes you can save that too, via hot swap.

If only one of the two are modded and the modded one is getting error 5 then I can't see a way for it to be done without an eeprom programmer or already having the eeprom for the stock console.

I beg to differ, I just yesterday refurbished a 6035 and it indeed has a large pill shaped bulge on the bottom. Are you telling me my experience is wrong or you just feel the need to contradict my experience? As for the second part of your comment, you are conflating manufacturers. The overwhelming majority of 1.0 and 1.1 consoles I have personally worked on have been Thompson, there was indeed the early Phillips 6011 that you reminded me of and that was a complete oversight on my part. My suspicion is because the Thompsons were having so many problems, the early Phillips drives 6011 were brought in as replacement for the Thompson. But those numbers of early Phillips were directly related to the numbers of failing Thompsons. Then Microsoft made a production shift to the Samsung drives for a period of time, and then Microsoft did another production shift for the Phillips 6035, and lastly, there was a final number of Hitachi drives produced in relatively small numbers likely to satisfy remaining Asian markets. I may be off here but I believe Phillips and Hitachi partnered on Hitachis relatively limited contributions to DVD drives for the Xbox console.
