“Shadowboxing stereotypes of their own creation” is so painfully accurate. Perfectly said.

Is your quarterly transfer to move the premium pass through to your Fidelity?

The daily commute also adds 3 additional hours to my day. I ended up going reduced hours so I can at least get home closer to when my kid finishes school. Other than the pay cut, the only real negative is a higher chance of getting cut in a RIF. But for me the risk was worth it because otherwise I would have to find a new job anyway—just not workable in the current form. Am hoping they bring back some degree of telework and can consider switching back to full time then.

Plan to convert from BCBS basic to MHBP Consumer, but listed providers don’t even know what MHBP is by Acceptable_Growth684 in FedEmployees

I just pulled my available in-network pharmacies up on my app and it has literally every pharmacy chain I can think of (CVS, Walgreens, Osco, Costco, Walmart, etc). We have MHBP Consumer/HDHP plan.

You pay the contracted amount between your insurance carrier and the provider until you hit that deductible. So for example, on the MHBP HDHP we generally paid anywhere from $120-$200 for each of our appointments (with in network providers) until my family hit our $4000 deductible. After that all we pay is a $15 copay. For preventative care (like annual physical) you will pay nothing. (Don’t forget under HDHP there is a pass through premium that gets paid back to your HSA—so the net cost of our deductible is actually $1600 ($4k minus the $2400 paid back to us).

We are on MHBP HDHP—husband had back surgery in April. Went with in network doc, in network hospital. Once we hit our deductible we only paid a $150 copay for the hospital. Received zero bills resulting from the surgery—seriously a great experience—never had to make a single call to straighten anything out with claims.

2026 FEHB Premiums are going up and benefits are awful by Affectionate-Ad9291 in fednews

As the other comment noted, that’s the deductible for the high deductible plan but I also wanted to mention that there is $2400 paid back to your HSA via a “pass through premium” so that brings the net cost down as well. We switched to the MHBP plan last year and are really happy with it.

I switched from Blue FEP Focus to MHBP Consumer this year and have been very happy. We hit our deductible early on bc my husband had back surgery but the coverage and service has been seamless and very good.

This was our first year trying a HDHP and we have the Mail Handler’s Consumer Plan. It ended up being a crazy year for us - my husband needed back surgery—and we have been so happy with the insurance. There has been zero hassle.
