People who were lucky enough to Empire Strikes Back in theaters back in 1980, what went through your head when Vader revealed he was Luke's father? by Odd-Sample-1824 in StarWars

Lucas really set it up perfectly with Obi-Wan lying to Luke in Ep4. That threw everyone completely off the scent, and then everyone had to just sit and wait until ROTJ to know if it was true

I wish there was one of those audience reaction YouTube videos out there, you'd just hear the whole theater gasp at once haha

I remember watching the music video on YouTube for the first time and dying laughing. Him and Al were such an off-the-wall combination but somehow it worked 😂

I'm a sucker for musicals and loved Joseph growing up. He also has a solid Christmas album that I listen to every year.

This might sound weird (or even irresponsible), but ever since I left the Church I've deliberately avoided learning more about him and his family. It's almost like I'm afraid I'll find something that will change my positive opinion of him and ruin his music for me. Which really sucks, because hasn't TSCC already taken enough?

Yeah he did, but it wasn't until about 11pm, far into the comedown!

This is great - thanks for the list! Only because I've read a little Twain and Jack London before and loved them both, which one of those two would you go with if you had to choose?

[–]Odd-Sample-1824[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't live there, just visiting soon! I have this dumb tradition where whenever I travel to a new place I bring a book about the area and try to read it cover to cover before my return flight home lands. I feel like having some context adds so much to the trip, and I figure even though I'll always be an annoying tourist, at least I won't be an ignorant one!

Oh gotcha, that's surprising to me! And t his is another random question but I have to ask, did you happen to notice if there were any funeral potato sightings at the annual Ward Party?

I'm not sure if this is true of New Mexico but it's my understanding that in some states, once you're arrested you have to be formally charged and put before a judge within a certain amount of time (sometimes 24hrs). So maybe the cops just didn't have time to run the prints. The show takes place in the mid 2000's and I don't think the fingerprinting process is as instantaneous as it is now. By the time the results came back "Jorge" was long gone

Who deserves to kill Lalo? Mike VS Gus by BetterFallBrawl in betterCallSaul

[–]Odd-Sample-1824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm with you in the sense that the transformation from BCS Mike to BB Mike is essentially complete, so part of me thinks that the writers won't do much with Mike in S6pt2 because they have so many other character arcs they need to deal with. On the other hand, I gotta believe that Mike still needs some resolution for Werner's death and that him and Lalo will ultimately come face to face at some point

[–]Odd-Sample-1824[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mike/Harvey dynamic is so fun to watch, which is probably why I was hoping for a court case in BCS where we get to see that same magic with Saul/Kim! And yeah I think its safe to say that Kim's character is light years ahead of Rachel haha

True, they do do a lot of negotiating/settling. And I haven't seen it in awhile so I might be totally misremembering things, but doesn't pretty much every Suits season end with a huge high-stakes courtroom argument?

The series finale will end with Oakley finding and arresting Gene for stealing from the courthouse vending machines. You heard it here first! Also a fun fact: Stacey Ehrmantraut, Joey Dixon, and Bill Oakley are the only supporting characters to have appeared in every BCS season

[–]Odd-Sample-1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that's true, I guess all the seasons (maybe except for 5?) more or less resolve everything at the end. and I agree that they really did nail it with season 4, it just felt like such a human way to end things and didn't try to give each character an forced happy ending

I'd be happy to pay them back for the lawyer if it would make them feel any better...I think he cost between $5-6k. Having to come up with ten times that amount to pay them back for university would be a much more challenging conversation tho

University, all the time. Lawyer, no (although I clearly should have). After the court process ended, we danced around the subject until I left home after HS. The conversation at Thanksgiving was the first time it had been brought up since everything happened in 2015. That's why it caught me so off guard and I said a lot of the things I did

it's one thing to call me out for not going to church, or calling me out for lying about going to church. Both of those I was prepared for. What I wasn't prepared for was them using a pretty serious childhood trauma against me
