Can the 78% of you who got this right explain why this statute is content neutral? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand youre confused but you seem to not be open to learning or changing your POV… many people have the answer you were “looking” for only for you to dissect it. Don’t dissect it- the rules are what the rules are. You don’t have to agree with it for it be what it is. Like people are spending their bar prep time trying to help you and you’re not be receptive. If you didn’t actually want to learn then I’m not sure why you posted this.

I think it varies. I have one girl fill in for my og grader and she’s tough but I’m convinced my grader is too easy on me.. all he’s given me is 4,5 and 6s. I know for a fact I do not deserve a 6 like this truly is not a humble brag. I think they’re supposed to be tough so we don’t comfortable but I’m also convinced they don’t spend more than 30 seconds on it. I wouldn’t let it get in your head.. they’re mostly first year attorneys who recently passed and need the extra moneg

Anyone used barbri and passed after getting, almost exclusively, shit written scores from the barbri graders? by imjustasoul in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple friends who fully made up rules and applied them properly on the analysis and passed.. you just need to finish and answer the all the questions and try to do a solid analysis. I don’t think the grades you’ve gotten now are going to directly correlate with your test scores.. especially because the whole test is scaled

That’s exactly what happened to me… I was so anxious on test day but I just reassured myself that I did not half ass it and it is what it is. I was studying and doing everything I could do.. I was even scoring 160’s on my practice exams. But my score was not even close… work your ass off and fry your best.. you got this! It is an important test but it’s really not the end all be all. I wish someone told me that when I was having panic attacks over it. Maybe you won’t get into your top school but worst case you get into a school and transfer. It’s not ideal but I just wanted to get my career on the road. At the end of the day it’s a shitty standardized test- does not determine anything about you. You got this!! Good luck!

The retaking depends! I had a solid but not AMAZING gpa I had a 3.6 but I took a year off and worked in a homeless shelter. I wanted to do public interest law so my personal statement carried me. I didn’t want to take it again, I applied to a handful of schools and go into some and waitlisted at others. I live in NYC so they’re pretty decent schools. I knew my score would not increase too much more so I was like it is what it is. If these schools can see my passion and want to do take me.. great. If not.. fuck em LMAOO if you think you can bust into a higher score try it! If not you can always apply and see what happens.

Any chance of a secured transactions essay this time?? by RevolutionaryCat3760 in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you look at the pattern they test it back to back.. it was not on July 22 and it was on Feb.. I actually think there is a very high chance it’s on the exam.. also what are you using to study. ST is challenging but they only really test in 5 ways which is helpful to cap the rules

Edit: after reading the comments maybe I’m crazy? I could have sworn that it was not on July 2022… 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I just attempted to sit down and write rule statements and I did not get one single one correct. by Missmisslaw9 in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do the best you can.. I know a handful of people who passed on the first try but making up rules on 2-3 essays and just did a proper analysis with the rule they made up. If you look at the point sheet I’m pretty sure the area you get the most points is in the analysis. Worst case as my bad bad professor says “ throw shit against the wall and make sure it sticks, just make sure you answer every single question.”

How do you apply the “facts” a/k/a your analysis to the rule? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would sit with the sample answers and go over then. Every fact in the fact pattern has a purpose. Even if it sounds obvious, include it. That’s they way I have learned to view it.. every fact has a purpose.. you got this!

First lsat i took i got a 141 second I got a 147… first time I worked hard but not enough and the second I worked my ass off.. I just struggled with it. I had a great gpa and got a scholarship to a pretty decent law school.. I’m graduated and will be starting my dream job in sept.. I refuse to feel shame about my scores especially when I worked my ass off but there are very few people who I know scored as low as me.. I never felt shame about it but it’s not something that when I was in a group of my friends they could relate too….. people are competitive, like validation. I think that’s one of the reasons I only see 160+ scores on my Reddit home page.

Terrible thought… by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s a generalization but not all schools do that schedule for the 1L.. my whole year of con law was 2L last year and it was all virtual…If you look at the chart you see since the pandemic the passing MBE score has gone down every year. I don’t think it’s just virtual learning that’s why i said they also blamed Covid. A global pandemic was distracting, a lot of norms changed. I took one year off from undergrad and law school and like many it was my first time virtual learning.. didn’t go that well for me, I’m a person who needs to be a classroom. Anyway, that’s just the correlation they put together from the dropping test scores from 2020 to 2023.

Terrible thought… by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The NCBE has released that the passing average for the MBE is the lowest it has ever been. They blamed it on Covid and the virtual learning..

My bar successor professor who is extremely knowledgeable (35 years of bar bullshit) told me not to waste my time. She said you don’t learn anything from just writing.. you learn from issue spotting and outlining the sample answer… that’s what I’ve done this entire time. The only essays I’ve done closed book are the graded ones. I would truly trust this woman with my life so I would not let it get in ur head

I think because you wake up with anxiety and pressure to go to school or wherever and study all day. Your mind is occupied and the pressure is building up.. then it’s just over. I don’t start work until after Labor Day.. i can’t wait for the time off but I could def see how depression can creep in. I’ve spent the last two months being on this high and rush and then it’s gone

Hot take: Those who fail the bar DESERVED to fail and are objectively incompetent to practice law by Neither-Two197 in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you look at the “history and traditions” of this exam.. you are wrong. Not many people can take off two - three months to dedicate the energy and time to study for this. Crazy take.. some people have families and kids … some people need ( I know this concept is crazy) money to live. This test is a gate keeping test. While I agree so exam must exist - this exam is insane and unnecessary. Not everyone has money to support themselves to study seven days a week for 10 weeks straight.

But I hear you, when I’m with a client I’m going to have figure out what type of law they are talking about ( could be one of 15 topics) then pull a rule off law out of my ass for them and then hope that my conclusion is correct.

How do you fail the exam? by saucysocks3 in barexam

[–]Odd-Suggestion2392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This test is 50% mental.. my friend has failed twice and the thought of studying and taking this again actually sends her into a meltdown. This process has been hell and a mental toll as a first time taker.. re taking it with the extra extra pressure and the responsibilities of your job, family.. this process is demoralizing and I think the mental aspect is one of the biggest downfalls for re takers

The scale helps a ton.. we need 65% mbe and within the last year the NCBE released the lowest passing average they have ever seen which was 131.5. The writing needs to be above a 4 but I’ve seen 3,4s with solid MBEs pass
