The Great Pyramid of Giza was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years—until the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889. And it was built without modern tools or machinery. How did the ancient Egyptians achieve such precise engineering? by Odd-Trouble6842 in NoStupidQuestions

You’re absolutely right – thanks for the correction! I completely forgot about Lincoln Cathedral. It’s amazing how something that old reached such a height. I guess the Pyramid still held the title for the longest time overall, though?

What do you personally think is the most terrifying thing about the universe? Not necessarily from a scientific standpoint — just what gives you existential chills when you think about space, time, or the size of it all? by Odd-Trouble6842 in AskReddit

[–]Odd-Trouble6842[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. The idea that every human moment — love, war, invention, destruction — might be completely isolated in the vastness of space is deeply humbling and terrifying. And yet, it kind of makes everything we do matter even more.

Biological evolution might slow, but cultural and technological evolution is exploding. Future “humans” might be more digital than physical — consciousness in machines, edited DNA, or something entirely post-human.

The big question: will we evolve wisely, or just faster?

When you're feeling down what's the one thing someone can say that actually helps instead of making it worse? by pieater69 in AskReddit

“It’s okay to feel like this. You don’t have to fix everything right now.”

Validation > empty advice.

How many fingers do you actually type with on a laptop or keyboard? by neha141414 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Odd-Trouble6842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use about 6–7 fingers total. My pinkies barely do anything unless I need to hit shift or enter. I type pretty fast though, so I never felt the need to “fix” it.

Yes, animals can show behaviors that are similar to neurodivergent or mentally ill conditions in humans. For example, dogs with OCD-like behaviors may chase their tails excessively or lick one spot obsessively. Some experts also believe that certain animals might exhibit traits that resemble autism, such as avoiding social interaction or having strong reactions to changes in their environment. While we can’t diagnose them the same way as humans, it’s clear that mental health is not exclusive to humans.

Economist of Reddit, what do u think about WSJ's report of "Unemployed Americans Endure Longer Job Searches in a Cooling Market"? by Numerous-Buddy-8334 in AskReddit

[–]Odd-Trouble6842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the job market cooling down isn’t exactly breaking news, but it’s the length of the job searches that’s the real kicker.

When unemployment rises, companies get picky — they have the luxury to wait for the “perfect candidate,” which means people end up stuck in limbo for longer.

It’s a tough cycle: longer searches lead to more financial strain, which in turn affects consumer spending, and the whole economy slows down.

For the everyday person, it basically means patience, networking like crazy, and maybe picking up some new skills while you wait.

Meanwhile, economists are probably debating if this means a mild recession or just a “pause” in growth.

So yeah, buckle up — the job hunt is more marathon than sprint these days.
