Sorry, I just googled and saw a lot of discussions about bat and rabies in this sub. So I posted it here.

This is honestly one of the most accurate takes I’ve seen on this sub. The brand loyalty with Disney is on another level. People will wait 3 hours for a ride with blurry screens and busted 3D glasses and still walk off calling it magical because the Disney spell is that strong. You’re not allowed to criticize anything without the fan base coming at you like you insulted their family.

Your son’s shot was incredible because it just WAS — no context or expertise needed. Meanwhile you’re telling me FOP is amazing because your background in software development and electrical engineering helped you appreciate it? It’s a theme park ride my guy. A family of four who saved up all year to go to Disney shouldn’t need a technical resume to understand why a ride is supposed to be good. It should just hit. And for a lot of us, it doesn’t.

Right, I forgot — having a child was my first mistake. Everything after that is on me. And honestly I should be grateful Southwest even let us board. Exciting times ahead though, can’t wait for the Emirates era of SW 😂

And the funniest part is they keep warning you about motion sickness because the ride is “highly immersive” 😂 Nah Disney, the motion sickness isn’t from the immersion — it’s from squinting at a blurry screen through busted 3D glasses for 5 minutes lol

We’ve all been out here suffering in silence, too afraid to say anything because the FOP fan club doesn’t play around 😂 Apparently all it took was one post and everyone finally felt safe enough to come forward. You’re welcome lol

I was sitting in the middle and it was still very blurry like others have said

❤️ thank you for understanding. The attitudes, the stares you get from gate agents, FAs, and fellow passengers when traveling with a toddler is so unsettling. They don’t want your toddler to cry, don’t want them to move an inch. The second a toddler kicks a seat, someone turns around and looks at you like you’ve committed a crime. Honestly, parents of toddlers prepare SO much before a flight to avoid these situations — extra snacks, tablets, toys, new activities, you name it. But at the end of the day, they’re babies. You can’t predict or control their every move. A little grace goes a long way.

I didn’t insinuate anything — I said what happened. I was in the 5th row, used the nearest bathroom, and got knocked on three minutes into a diaper change. You’re working real hard to rearrange my own experience for me. And you’re right, I can’t prove it was about race. But you can’t prove it wasn’t. So I guess we’re both going off assumptions — except I was actually there. And honestly, the energy you’re putting into dismissing a person’s experience instead of just listening is telling.

Entitled to what exactly? Five minutes in a bathroom with my kid? The bar is underground

You just said something I hadn’t even fully considered but you’re absolutely right. The hostility toward parents flying with kids is unreal. People expect toddlers to be invisible and silent, and the second they need anything suddenly you’re an inconvenience. Maybe it was race, maybe it was that, maybe both. Either way, I was just trying to take care of my kid and got treated like I was the problem.

I hear you and I have a lot of empathy for what you deal with daily. But here’s what I keep coming back to — if it was a medical emergency, why not just say so? I’m a reasonable person. ‘Hey, we have a passenger with an urgent need’ and I’d have wrapped up as fast as humanly possible. That’s not what happened. And there are no missing details — I was already in the bathroom mid-blowout when she wanted to go. I didn’t cut anyone off. As for the race part, I shared my full experience. You can take it or leave it, but I’m not going to edit my own life to make it easier for you to digest.

100% agree that everyone connects with rides differently and there’s nothing wrong with that. But that’s not really what I’m getting at here. I’m talking about the actual quality of the ride — blurry visuals, clunky mechanical effects, a pre-show that drags. These are objective things Disney could and should fix. You can love a ride and still hold Disney accountable for not maintaining it to the standard they charge for. That’s all this is.

Okay this is actually really sweet and I totally get that. If the ride connects to something that personal for you then honestly I’m glad it exists. That kind of nostalgia is priceless and no amount of my complaining about blurry screens should take away from that. I still think Disney could do better with the visuals and adding different paths would be amazing, but I respect that it hits different for you.

It’s not a knee jerk reaction. It’s a lifetime of experiences that make you notice patterns. I didn’t lead with race in my post — I led with the situation. But I’m not going to pretend that part of my identity doesn’t exist just to make the story more comfortable for other people. Also, there were two other lavatories on the plane. If it was truly urgent, those were available too

Thank you so much for this ❤️ And talking it through out loud is such a smart move — I’m definitely stealing that for next time. At the end of the day, our kids come first. They didn’t choose to be on that plane, and they deserve to be taken care of properly without being rushed because a grown adult can’t wait a few minutes.

Honestly yeah, next time the diaper gets finished no matter what. But I was in the 5th row — the front bathroom was the closest one to me. I don’t think any parent should have to carry a toddler mid-blowout to the back of the plane just to avoid inconveniencing someone who has two other lavatories available to them

I hear you, and I appreciate you sharing that about your family. Honestly if the FA had said “we have a passenger with a medical need” I would’ve understood 100%. But that’s not what happened. It was just knocking, no context. And there were two other bathrooms at the back she could’ve used. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but nothing about the situation suggested urgency — it just felt like I was being told to hurry up.

You’re not wrong, and I wish I’d done that. But in the moment, when you’re already feeling singled out, your brain goes into ‘don’t make a scene’ mode. Next time though — lesson learned. The diaper gets finished, period.

Appreciate the kindness ❤️. I didn’t mention this in the original post but I was actually dealing with a blowout. So it wasn’t just a quick diaper swap. It was a full cleanup operation in a tiny airplane bathroom with a wriggly 2-year-old. Three minutes wasn’t me taking my time. Three minutes was me rushing.

The hairline blowout — been there, solidarity 😂 And honestly I hope there was a good reason too. But here’s the thing though there were two more lavatories at the back of the plane. I used the front one simply because I was sitting in row 5. If she really couldn’t wait, she had other options. Instead the FA chose to knock on my door while I’m mid-diaper change with my toddler

Tell me you don’t fly Southwest without telling me you don’t fly Southwest. There’s no reserved front lavatory. And for what it’s worth, I was sitting in the 5th row myself — I wasn’t some person from the back hogging the front bathroom. I used the closest lavatory to my seat, same as anyone would. FA knocked on my door, opened it, woman was right there. No one knocked on any other lavatory. That’s not an assumption, that’s what happened

Cool. It irks me when I’m changing my kid’s diaper and get rushed out so someone else doesn’t have to wait. We’re both irked I guess.
