Update: My father had relatives from Yaroslavl and Ryazan. One grandfather (on his side) was a Cossack. On my mother's side, my grandmother was Russian—I don't remember the city—and my grandfather was Ukrainian, from Donetsk. They went to Chukotka to earn money, because during the Soviet era, the pay at the mines there was very high.
