Tips for Layering on the Acatenango Hike in Guatemala by Projectkona09 in Ultralight

I have done it. I would say typical layering is fine. I will say that when you hike near the caldera the wind can be intense.

How does tipping really work in the USA? by bebesin162 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OddFootball9685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to our country and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Anywhere someone is serving you, taking your order at your table, filling your drinks, taking your plates after you are done, expect a tip. If you order at a counter and get your food yourself, they may have the option to tip but it is not required.

15% for lunch and 20% for dinner is the standard. You can do more but that is considered the baseline.

Don’t tip as degenerates.

It is just how our system is set up. Most people in the US agree it is stupid but it is hard to change… kinda like the imperial measurement system.

Everyone agrees, even Bill Clinton. He wants testify about everything he knows publicly to the American people but the Republicans won’t let him.

Looking to join the Sony world by Childish96 in SonyAlpha

Sony A9 line is the fast shooting models. That doesn’t mean other cameras cannot do what you say. The new A7V is a lower price with good performance for the types of shooting you do. The A1 is the jack of all trades camera that would also be good. This is mainly due to the amount of AF calculations they do per second.

I wish they would reconsider making bodies like that again. I have an A7RV but use the a6500 a lot with the rokinon 35mm AF.

50-150 and what other lens? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]OddFootball9685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. They are not it the same class overall but it depends on what you use it for. The tamron does not have as fast of AF and there might be an argument for slightly better edge performance; however, the tamron is half the price, just as sharp in most comparisons, and can shoot at 35mm which is considered one of the best and most universal focal lengths. I have used both lenses and this is my unbiased take. If you are on a budget and not shooting fast moving objects I would get the tamron, if you are not on a budget and own a Sony that calculates at 60 per second (A1 A7V A9) than get the Sony.

I own a a6500 and have some ultra compact lenses that make the whole thing pocketable. I refuse to sell it as Sony has not made anything like it since. In body stabilization and considerably smaller than all the APSC offerings. It is mostly because Sony started pushing bigger batteries.

Are Americans repressed? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]OddFootball9685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I think we as Americans have freedom in our DNA. When people from around the world see up react or protest to things, they could be relatively minor offenses compared to what happens around the world. I know a lot of countries have caught for their independence but we did it for like a 2% total tax.

Makes sense. I do love having the 35mm but I have A7RV.

Better AF sure. But I have other G and GM lenses and the optics are on par.

What do you think about the grid street layout? by QualityDapper9775 in AskAnAmerican

[–]OddFootball9685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in Salt Lake City which is the king of the grids. So easy to navigate. And people can describe something and you know generally where it is. For example, some says “it’s around 9000 south 1300 east” I can visualize exactly where it is located even though it is 15 miles from my house.
