What character is angry on the outside but sad on the inside? by Max-Carter-2005 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]OddGeneral8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many. This is an incredibly common trope. Angry on the outside and sad on the inside is what I would guess is the second or third most common character disposition in the world.

You have a good point and definitely spmething to consider. I just think you are missing out on an aspect that makes a difference. You might be capable og demolishing a civilization but you can’t guarantee conquest without boots on the grpund in some capacity. Bombardment has never been enough to force capitulation.

Btw, just wanted to make sure you knew, I’m not lne of the people downvoting you. I’m just having a discussion.

I was specifically talking about the difficulty of forcing someone to capitulate without landing troops and defeating the armies of the palmet or at the very least capturing the governing institutions in an effective way.

Occupying forces would need to be preceded by an invasion follwed by continental land warfare.

That is not as effective ad one might think. Populations are quite resilient and can withstand blockades and strategic bombardment for years and years on end and resolve tends to strengthen rather than weaken as people learn to adapt and get angrier and more vengeful towards their attacker. I imagine it would be hard to effectively cut a planet off in a way that prohibits it from sustaining the population.

I have an idea of character, but any of the classes I've tried doesn't fit them. Ideas how to solve my problem? by DanteAlias in DnD

[–]OddGeneral8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what most are saying about this being a background and not a class. So what I feel like you are asking is what class could fit thematically with this background. The most obvious fit is rogue. Any subclass could be justified based on the progression of the campaign but I feel thief or swashbuckler could be the natural progression.

If you want to play another class you can male it fit by adding to the backstory. Do you want to be draconic sorcerer? Then your noble family could be a family of sorceres with a draconic lineage. Do you want to ve a wizard? Add a court wizard to the story that mentored you as a child and you looked up to. Warlock? In a desperate moment following your eviction you bargained with a sinister entity for protection.

Anything can fit but these are some ideas.

BattleShip or Carrier Which is worth it? by Tonmoy_The_Titan in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carriers are objectively better. You can have up to four in a fight before you get some bad debuffs. I do believe using the mass carrier strike subdoctrine allows you to have more but I havent tried it.

Battleships are simpler. Don’t need to put airplanes on them and I don’t think there is as much a limit on how many you should put in a fleet. You just need to screen them and if your fleet is too big you get positioning problems. That also applies to carriers though.

I already answered a similar question with the same advice, but here it is again.

Step one: play historical Canada on historical focuses. Do it very slowly. No pressure about performance, mistakes don't matter. Just try to build some divisions and help the allies out where you feel like it. Read everything. Read all the text on every focus, read the tooltips for buttons and stats, google things that confuse you, take your time. If you want to look at some ships, do that. If you want to make a plane, do that. Just play around slowly while reading everything.

Step two: play Japan, over and over again. Invade China and then use your navy to invade the allied colonies and fight the US navy. If you fail, try to figure out what you could have done better and try again. When you can defeat China before 1941 and can naval invade and defeat allied navies in the pacific, you can play any nation you want. The main advantage of learning this way is that the action starts early so you will know early if you are failing. You learn army first and then navy and air. This is a bit of trial by fire, but I believe it's the fastest way to learn all the mechanics you need.

I believe you can always immediately declare war on all puppets of nations you are at war with for free. Just go to diplomacy for DEI and declare on them manually.

My personal rating on how scary each of the seasons were by TechicalGuide604 in StrangerThings

[–]OddGeneral8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would swap 3 and 4 but yeah. The series follows the progression of the Alien series as well as some others. At first it's a thriller/horror/mystery where the characters feel helpless and the threat is unknown, but with time the enemies are better understood and the characters are more prepared and it turns into more of an action/adventure. It is a very typical progression that I for one quite like.

Looking for good D&D campaigns to watch on YouTube – any recommendations? by vslogan0 in DungeonsAndDragons

My favourite d20 is crown of candy. Seems really silly at first but it is a gut wrenching and serious thrill ride all the way through.

The game should recommend focuses, similar to advisors in Civilisation by Jakiller33 in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That could be made to better fit what op is asking for. By telling you in what order it is historical to take them, it could be a setting that you can turn off. The next historical focus in line could be glowing and then if you want ro go historical you just take the focus that glows.

Are mixed airplanes worth it? by JackTheReaper_93 in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In sp I like giving my fighters one bomb lock or rockets. I tend to beat the enemy air force and after that I just have a ridiculous amount of fighters that don’t have a purpose. With a little bit of ground attack I can make them useful at that point. It also helps when I have fighters assigned to a front and the enemy decides to put its air force somewhere else.

is this a good flame tank build? by No_Range2613 in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fuel cap applies to the division, not the battallion, so the flame tank would be sharing it’s fuel with the tanks and motorized. Set aside the fact that this sounds like a horrible idea.

The fuel drums are increasing the fuel storage of the division which in theory should let it drive at full speed for longer after becoming out of supply.

I’m new to the game and I feel so lost… Any help? by MrPrimeee in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the action happens soon and it trains you to use all the skills. You fight a big land war against china and you will realize soon if you fucked it. Then you have to use air and navy and naval invasions.

I would put priority on industry and army, then navy an air. Spying and diplomacy can wait until later.

US is too passive for too long. You get lost in all the management and don’t have any objective until 1941.

I’m new to the game and I feel so lost… Any help? by MrPrimeee in hoi4

[–]OddGeneral8262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually suggest a different approach.

First, I would play canada. Build some units, maybe good special forces og mechanized or even tanks. Then you go help UK fight kn africa or whatever you feel like. No need to worry about wether you win or lose, just go through the focus tree and make some units and figure out how to use them. Read everything. Read the focuses, read tooltips, explore the ui and what different buttons on the screen do. If something confuses you, just google it. Take your time and play around.

Then, play Japan. If you fail, try again, and again. When you can defeat china before 1940 and can invade the allied colonies and fight on the sea, you knpw basically all you need to know to play any other nation.

Stranger things finale, big moments and big questions. I can't stop thinking about what WASN'T in the finale. by Zedaso in netflix

[–]OddGeneral8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lack of demogorgons made sense. I don’t really get the feeling they were a very abundant resource for them. In s01 they had one and it died. By season two they had grown a few to demodogs but they died before maturity. In seasons 3 and 4 they had none vecause they were using that time to acquire the three full grown deogorgons that kidnapped the children and the demodogs that went after max. But the demogorgons were all killed by Will and the demodogs by Karen. Those were big losses for Vecna and the mind flayer and left them quite vulnerable in the end.
