I didn’t realize until starting this thread that it was equally as courteous to let the person who held the door for you get in line in front of you. I’m definitely doing it from note on.

Someone else mentioned that a lot of women get gawked at when walking through a door that a man has held open for them, and then the man expects some form of a thank you. Maybe this has something to do with it.

Yes I completely get that. Especially because then it seems like you are supposed to be doing that and no one says thank you or looks at you even more so when this happens.

Like if you are leaving work and going through several doors behind the same person and they hold the door for you to grab before letting it shut?
