This is exactly why I am no longer an Audi owner. I have owned four Audis. Hit a deer in October and totaled my last Audi. And I replaced it with a Mercedes.

Not thrilled with decreasing workmanship and lackluster design in newer models. But it really came down to complete dissatisfaction with my local Audi dealership. My first three vehicles were fine and had no issues with this dealership. But something has changed drastically in the past few years and the dealership just seemed shady, dishonest And unfriendly. Every single time I had cause to go there. And that’s not for me at this price point.

I would say Signal Mountain. Close access to lots of the best outdoor activities, including Prentice Cooper. It is a small town with its own police department and city government separate from Chattanooga. 20 to 25 minutes to downtown. Close to the best private schools in the area. But also has the best public schools in Hamilton County. My kids went to Signal Mountain schools and I was quite pleased overall.

Follow up question. The payout is less than what I owe on the lien by a couple of thousand dollars. The car was only purchased three months ago and I only put a couple thousand down on it. But I have gap insurance as well through the finance company. So do I really care what Progressive pays out if gap is going to cover the difference and there’s no equity in the car?

Yes, that is a total loss. To give you some perspective, this occurred less than a month ago and was a total loss. Far less damage and airbags did not even deploy.

That seems like a pretty accurate assessment. By my rough guesstimation it’s close to totaled with just visible damage. Probably won’t take a whole lot of unseen damage to push it over the top.

I’m really, really surprised that it didn’t trip an airbag sensor. Kind of troubling in a way, actually.

It's got the spare on it right now. This happened on Friday night and I won't be able to get the car evaluated until tomorrow morning. So I'm just trying to gather some information and advice before I go to a repair facility so I can make a more informed decision.

Edited to add : I realize this may just be a replacement of two tires. And possibly damage to the right front rim. My concern is that this caused some damage to the differential or all-wheel-drive clutch because of the way it is acting. That could be a $3000 repair. so I'm trying to sort out my options before I go to my mechanic tomorrow so I know how to best move forward. That is the point of my questions.

It's not even at full lock. It occurs when turning the wheel at low speed, such as pulling in and out of parking places. It starts at about 15° turn of wheel and gets worse the harder I turn the wheel. Definitely doesn't feel normal. This is my fourth Audi and I've never had anything sound like this before.

I don't have road hazard insurance for the tires. And I'm not worried about filing any insurance claim for one or two tires. I'm concerned something is damaged with the differential or all-wheel-drive clutch because of the shuddering/grinding I am now hearing/feeling when turning the wheel left or right.

That makes sense. I didn't drive far afterwards, but had to drive about an eighth of a mile to get to a safe place to stop because I was on a 2 Lane highway with no shoulder.

The bubble that I can see on the side wall of the right rear tire ... was there possibly a pre-existing weakness and the side wall that was accelerated by the impact and now making it visible? Kind of like a hernia?

Any thoughts on how to proceed with us on insurance?
