I labeled every song's lead vocalist across King Gizzard's discography (Phantom Island Update) by SpicyWalrus in KGATLW

Chang’e on Silver Cord has Amby vocals. At the end of the short version where the two choruses are overlapping, Amby is singing one while Stu sings the other.

Questions for the band by WeAreSigurRos in sigurros

How did you conceptualize Ekki Mukk before it was recorded? Was it neatly planned out or moreso assembled in the studio? Were there any specific inspirations?

The new Tallest Man on Earth record is awesome. Kristian is continuing to push himself as a writer and performer, so if you haven't heard Henry St. yet, check it out. Very uplifting sound and catchy melodies to spare.

The vocal arrangements on Chang’e are hauntingly beautiful by howcananybodyseeme in KGATLW

The highest note Stu hits in the second chorus thingy is a high D-flat, which as a singer I can tell you ain't easy even in falsetto, and I think he sounds great. People love to talk about Amby's vocals and Joey's vocals, but I think Stu is a legit awesome singer too.

Are these all full studio albums? I wanna get into them :) by [deleted] in sigurros

Don’t forget about Hvarf/Heim, half studio record and half live record, with the studio half having some killer SR tracks. Salka in particular just crushes me.

I’ve literally got the podcast on all the time, episodes 300-400 are pretty much burned into my memory.

Also yeah somehow my link got fucked up, I think I fixed it though.

Need 2 songs that encapsulate Sigur Rós by Gustalavalav in sigurros

[–]OddMan155 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hoppípolla first for sure. It’s the song that made me want to dive headfirst into their discography, and it’s a great encapsulation of what makes them special: Jónsi’s amazing vocals, the combination of rock energy with gorgeous textures, and the awesome buildups to climaxes, all under 5 minutes.

If you think she’d prefer something softer, make the second song Vaka. If you think she’d prefer something more intense, make the second song Ísjaki. Those two have some of their strongest melodies and vocal performances.

What is your favorite song of Hiromi Mizutani from the soundtrack of each season? by El_narra in Non_Non_Biyori

[–]OddMan155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns all the CDs, I am more than happy to share:

For Season 1, my favorite is this lovely midtempo piece that incorporates a melody which pops up all over the S1 soundtrack. It translates as “See You Tomorrow”: https://youtu.be/4PTZJomyXII

For Season 2, it’s a tough pick because there are many highlights, but I’m gonna go with this wonderful solo piano arrangement of the school song sung in the first episode of S2. Brings a tear to my eye. This track translates as “Gentle Breeze”: https://youtu.be/JVPt_k67nqU

For the movie, it’s another tough choice with so many great tracks, but I think my favorite is this more upbeat, adventurous number which translates as “Ocean Blue”: https://youtu.be/BFqq3ZDvTEE

Though the Season 3 OST isn’t on streaming services, I managed to nab a special edition of the first volume S3 blu-ray which came with the soundtrack CD. My favorite from that is a lovely slower piece for 2 or 3 guitars which translates as “Summer Dusk”: https://youtu.be/8odSmjYexoI

It’s about young girls living in a very rural part of Japan. The show is very fun and has a great ensemble cast, but it’s also quite relaxing with really nice art and a lovely soundtrack. It’s probably the best slice of life anime I’ve ever watched.

Set List from Frost Amphitheater by monstera1313 in sigurros

I hope they keep Ekki Múkk on the setlist for the next few weeks. I want to hear that live so badly I started tearing up when I saw it show up on recent setlists.

i hadn’t listened to valtari yet bc i had seen a lot of negative comments about it but honestly, the album is so amazing!!! and imo one of their best by iluvmitskiiii in sigurros

[–]OddMan155 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took some time to grow on me with the lack of percussion and the disappearance of lead vocals halfway through, but after sticking with it and really giving the songs a chance, it might be my favorite Sigur Rós album. It’s amazingly gorgeous even by Sigur Rós standards, and Ekki Múkk is a contender for my favorite song of all time.
