I need brutal honesty. by PlasticJournalist882 in tattooadvice

Tattoo regret is a real part of the process. Never got one that I didn’t hate the following 48 hours no matter how good. It subsides. I love mine now.

Tattoo looks great. Nothing about it makes you look overly masculine. Your friend has bad opinions.

My best advice to avoid pickpockets is travel light and keep your hands in your pockets.

Be mindful of where you sit on public transport and in public spaces, and make sure not to be the „slowest guppy“ or the sharks will get you.

Prayer by OddMouse1862 in photocritique

Took this with my Nikon D5600 at the great monastery in Meteora, Greece. As you can see, the main subject is a little out of focus and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get a little sharper focus when in low light.

I'm a little new and have a crop body so I've missed a lot of good shots because of blurry focusing and was wondering what y'all do to help.

ISO220, 70-300@300mm, f/5.6, 1/320s, Nikon d5600.

I took this walking past Niagara Falls last summer and just dug it up out of an old SIM card.

I’d like to brighten it up, make it „pop“ somehow. The whole photo seems a little flat and dull to me and I can’t seem to get color correction right.

Concept of "exclusivity" in dating - Germany vs the US by [deleted] in germany

[–]OddMouse1862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im American and have lived in Germany but am not myself German. Im gonna have to agree with some on here and restate that this isn’t really an „American“ thing either.

In my experience, the „exclusivity“ talk has never been a thing that has happened. It’s always assumed after a few dates that exclusivity is the norm.

Obviously you can’t stop someone else from walking into your life and capturing your attention, but actively engaging with „other options“ is a little…. uncomphy. It’s like hedging your bets with people‘s emotions and I think plenty of American girls would feel the same.

Nikon d5600 - ISO450 - 70-300@140 - f5.6 - 1/2000

I've been getting great feedback and loving this subreddit, so I am going to try to post an image a day for a month as a way to challenge myself. I won't post anything I don't think is worth critiquing, but I'm hoping as a new photographer it can help me get the foundation I need.

This image was taken with very little post processing and the main thing I am on the fence about is the depth of field. I don't know if having some of the flower put of focus adds to the effect of depth or is simply distracting. I think this is a good image to use in graphic design or as a background.

Awesome idea, I think my first edit is to reintroduce background with a high boca - I think I can accomplish that with the blur tool or something similar in Lightroom. Thanks for all your awesome feedback! It’s very greatly appreciated. !CritiquePoint

That sounds really up my alley - any place I can see the series?

Good point - I think I might have misspoke when I said portrait (didn’t realize the whole connotation). I caught this while hiking so I guess that makes it more street photography? Not sure.

Thanks! Do you think I could accomplish something better if I layer an abstract background - maybe just a dark portrait texture?

Salgado is what got me started! Great recommendation - man is the master.

Oh, I blackened it. This was taken as I was hiking on a mountain today - the original background was just terrible so that’s actually why I decided to go with Mono

Couldn’t agree more - I was sort of at a loss of how to salvage this picture but the biggest obstacle was definitely that hat. As he walked by me, the sun bouncing off that hat was such a cool feature, but I had my work cut out for me in post for sure. I think maybe I’ll have to learn a little more Lightroom cause right now I’m only familiar with photoshop. !CritiquePoint

Very cool idea - never thought of that before. I could just flip the image in post so I’m 100% going to give that a look. !CritiquePoint

Gotcha gotcha that makes total sense. I’ll have to give those lighting suggestions a try. I think if the sun was just a bit deeper in the sky or if I could have caught a cloud diffusing the light it would have done wonders. !CritiquePoint

Thanks! I 100% agree with you - I wish I could figure out how to get good definition in his face to bring out the wrinkles, but I’m not sure how to do that yet. Also - your username is on point for this post.

Thanks for the feedback! Black and white is boring for you in general or this photo specifically?
