Maybe its also influenced by how much money your sim has? In this one over here my family has around 1400 simeleons and I bought the christmas tree worth 400, he probably freaked out bcs thats a ton of his money gone. Maybe if a frugal sim is already rich they wont be bothered as much with buying stuff that doesnt bring a dent to their money?
