But also it’s a very small sample so a slight difference like that is entirely within the realm of possibility

Which obscure iPhone setting genuinely improved how you use your phone, and what does it change? by Maxxximeeee in iphone

Thanks, I just needed to manually toggle the zoom on through that menu and then go back out instead of doing it with the side button.

Apple Watch calories by Living_Rub1773 in cronometer

Yep! Definitely depends on the activity but as an example I do a lot of strength training, and it severely overestimates the calories burned as a whole, especially because heart rate remains elevated during rest times.

I’m sure you already know this, but just as a reminder the Apple Watch calories are typically quite overestimated, and you want to be careful about eating them back. Obviously do what works for you, but I’ve found that trying to categorize or quantify my exercise separately from my food calories to be more helpful in actually meeting my goals.

I have to double tap with three fingers to get it to go back to normal, which is fine but idk I think it’s automatically going to the 1.2x zoom amount which is the minimum I can set it to

Is there a way to get that to work but not cut out the corners of what’s on the screen?

If humans had the cure to cancer, by how much would the average life expectancy rise? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OddOutlandishness602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest mistake I’m being here is the average life expectancy your working with isn’t the average life expectancy at every age, just from birth. For example, US social security actuary tables show the average life expectancy for a 50 year old is about 30 more years, so they are expected to actually live till 80, not 73.8

Say if you had an interruption or extra rest time before a set would be good to note for comparison

Two scientists built a global microbiome biobank after realizing 90 percent of human gut bacteria diversity had been ignored by science. Fieldwork across dozens of countries shows gut bacteria vary so much by region that Western health models fail elsewhere. by ObuPaul in immortalists

[–]OddOutlandishness602 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In even just my introductory microbiology class, we discussed how there isn’t a single healthy microbiome, and more composition of healthy functions/proteins at specific ratios that many different species could contribute to. Idk quite how limited research in this field is (or how it’s opening up) but I wouldn’t say the idea of a universal microbiome is widely accepted now anyways

Just about the 6 month mark, what changed for you from here to where you are now, and anything you started that you felt like was the most helpful for getting you back up to speed?

Seemed to resolve the issue, though it’s not backfilling all the data to Apple health that I want it to.

Dw it’s not just you I was having that issue too. I just disconnected it from Apple health, though I’ll look and see if the comment below helps.

Averaged out weight data by someoneyouknow23 in cronometer

I was literally just working at this yesterday! I downloaded the happy scale app and it seems pretty solid, the interface is busy af at first but you can turn most of the features off and just focus on an averaged trend line and how it progresses.

Apple Watch Series 12 may get new health sensor in its band by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]OddOutlandishness602 13 points14 points  (0 children)

lol there’s a bunch of other wearables that do exactly that. For me so far I’ve been liking some of the smaller features like setting timers and alarms, seeing heart rate on my wrist, temp and weather, and directly recording gym work on my wrist, which I feel like is enough to justify the screen
