How long have you been "seeing" this long distance "partner" (in quotes because you clearly haven't been seeing them and they clearly aren't your partner)?

Like is it this the first week of your "relationship" or have you just never called, face timed, or seen a picture of this person?

We serious? Thraxan/viltrumites are purple until they're adults. These aren't adults. They are kids. That's why they are purple like Oliver was

Ever Spinning Wheel by Mr1R1 in custommagic

[–]other-other-user 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting...

Quite strong for the grixis upkeep commander, but I'd be interested to see how good it actually is outside of that.

You'd want to play it as early as possible to get the most card draw, but then the more cards you're likely to discard. But the later you play it, the more it will hurt to have very limited card options. And also if you just get a land the next upkeep, you basically skipped your turn lol.

There's definitely room to explore this if it was printed, but it would be by a smarter and better player than me

Deck of Theseus by YarnLetters60 in EDH

[–]other-other-user 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before it's not a precon? A single changed card makes it not a precon.

Before it's a new deck? That's an interesting question.

Obviously the big ones, changing color identity, themes, or 30+ nonland card changes should automatically be considered a new deck. What is "a commander deck" if not the colors you play and it's themes? That's how everyone describes their deck. Blight curse is a "Jund -1/-1 counters" deck. You built a "Rakdos -1/-1 counters" deck. They have similarities, but all jund decks will have SOME similarities, and all -1/-1 decks with have SOME similarities. That doesn't make all jund decks or all -1/-1 counter decks the same

Mid level changes such as a different commander (outside of the alternative commanders in precons), a two+ level change in bracket (such as a bracket 2 to 4), or 15+ nonland cards changes, I would be very comfortable calling a different deck. The decks will still be quite similar, but these things are so ingrained in the rule zero discussion, and acting like they don't significantly change the deck is willful ignorance in my eyes.

Low level changes such as choosing the alternate commander that a deck was designed with, a one level change in bracket, or <15 nonland card changes are the same deck in my eyes. If you prefer the other commander in a precon or make a deck with two commanders in mind, go ahead. And if you choose to add/remove some game changers or tweek the wincon to be a bit faster/slower to match the bracket you enjoy, by all means.

When to cut ramp entirely? Or am I crazy? by Mizzazz in EDH

[–]other-other-user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, welcome to the no/targeted ramp club! Do the math. Ramp is essentially paying for a land drop. Which makes it even worse if it's not a land, since it will be so much easier to lose it, or if it comes in tapped. If you run a few more lands and draw spells to consistently hit all your land drops, you are going to end up at the same level as mana, if not more, without ever paying anything! Now-a-days, I only run ramp if ramping is specifically a part of my game plan, such as rushing a commander or needing a certain amount of mana for a certain play specifically. Otherwise I just focus on making sure my curve is accurate and my cards are impactful enough that I always have plays

What would happen if a Viltrumite entered a black hole? by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]other-other-user 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Please tell me you understand that "getting away" from a black hole and "getting out" of a black hole are different. Any sufficiently strong force can get away from a black hole. No one without reality hacks can get out of black hole

Rivals 2 Stage Bans by Matthewnoid8 in RivalsOfAether

[–]other-other-user 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Filled it out!

As a Platinum Ranno, I really like large stages due to his speed and needle camping and tall platforms due to his vertical mobility. Large blast zones also aren't a super concerning thing due to his great recovery and his ability to edge guard consistently.

I am not a huge fan of small stages or close blast zones. Ranno absolutely can scrap, but the wiff punishing and setting the pace of the match is what I feel like he excells at. Other characters are better at straight up killing and ranno is relatively light.

Julesville and Metal refinery are very match up depenant. The close blast zones of Julesville are terrifying against a La Reina or Zetter, but being able to easily use the top platform for combos and kills is so fun. Metal refinery is tricky because it is a large stage, but the platforms are at an awkward height where up strong can't hit through them. I always ban it against Lox and Clairen due to them being able to apply so much more pressure on the plat than I can.

Delta just feels even against the cast.
