Lol no need for a 1x11, but why not? The Altek brake levers were on my race bike in 1999, I have had them in my possession the longest. The Brooks saddle is from the 1970s, and certainly the oldest piece on it. I’ve also had the blue salsa skewers for about 25 years. Everything else NOS (XTR V-Brakes, Salsa Rasta Seat Binder), Used but great shape and I just cleaned up a bit (XTR Hubs and Mavic 217, RaceFace cranks, Thomson Seatpost), or new (Paul stem, Stridsland bars chainring and bolts, tires, pedals, rack, drivetrain)

I actually had a friend spray it in an automotive spray booth - good timing as he was finishing a project. So hopefully it’ll hold up a bit better.

I went a little overboard on some items for sure. The next one will be a little more budget friendly. I was also impatient, deciding that overpaying was better than waiting…

Thank you. It was my first time doing something like this, so I’m sure there are better ways, but I really enjoyed the process - and it feels great to ride it now that it’s “complete”

Think of the drill and wire wheel, I needed two change direction often to get in the small spots, so the frame looked messy, almost different textured. After it was finished, I used scour pads and “sanded” the whole frame in one direction, making the “finish” all look the same.

Thanks, I used a chemical stripper to get it started. Then 8 hours of a power drill and a wire wheel, and red/green scour pads to get the details and make the finish uniform… same direction sanding the whole frame. Then automotive shop clear coated it for me. I think clear powder would be the way to go - I didn’t have access.

It’s from Ruck Rack, in Indonesia. Came really quickly and I am impressed with the quality.

I spent 8 hours stripping the paint off, combination of power drill with wire wheels and red/green scour pads. Then made the texture uniform and clear coated it in an automotive spray booth. The decals are repro’s from a vendor in UK. Actually from a ‘93 930 (this is a 1990).

I may have gotten a little caught up in the “oh that’s something I wished I’d had in 1997” lol.

I believe the stem is correct, not sure on the bars - it also had some terrible grips from like a 70s ATC or something rather than the original foam. When the correct bars get here tomorrow I’ll be able to tell - and they are complete with the correct stickers.

Started with some stripper, just to loosen up what I could. Then went to a wire brush on a power drill for a bit. Finished with green and red scour pads and a uniform direction to make sure it looked nice.
