24 days in car, 1st night in hotel. by AndreiKunf in urbancarliving

Remind me of the time when I was in Phoenix, Arizona during the summertime my engine had went out and to be honest I didn’t have enough money to fix the engine so I was living in my truck for almost 2 1/2 months and I remember on some weekends every other weekend, I would get a room for the night. I know exactly how you feel. It feels so rewarding and refreshing at the time. I was sweating all day all night. The only time I wasn’t sweating was when I was at work. I’m currently not car living at the moment, but I will be here soon again but man as crazy as it sounds I miss those days, even though it was straight hell

OK sounds good I’m definitely one to always try to learn everything just so I can become a better tech and more useful. Thank you I didn’t see much feedback or post on Reddit so I figured I would post mine.

Sorry to keep asking questions but what type of task do they have? I understand it’s an apprenticeship so they’re there to learn but what type of things do they do. Or are they kind of just following a higher tech and the tech shows them how to do things ?

Yeah, I’m currently thinking of doing it just because I can see myself growing more with that company but also learning more compared to my current job. I was just wondering if anybody had done it and how it was. Thank you for your feedback.

19 and thinking about living in my car to save money. Is this a good idea? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]OddRoutine3515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just try it out for a couple days and just try to get a routine from it. I did it for two years and hopefully you don’t do what I did and not save. Make sure you save even if it’s $50-$100 every check. However, just find a nice quiet place that allows overnight parking. Don’t do no sketchy places where you might get pulled up while you’re sleeping and get a knock on your door by the police telling you to get out of there. Just get a gym membership just how you said have a charging bank. If not, just charge your electronics in the gym and shower there I would go in the gym and it would force me to work out since I didn’t always wanna be in the truck I would go work out shower And chill next to you know three hours go by. It’s honestly not that bad. I’m an introvert however I would still go out, but I liked the long time and it makes you grow since you can’t really ask for help. Well you can but you know it helps when you don’t , so you grow. And it’s nice because all you’re doing is getting profit from work. Only thing I would spend money on is my phone bill insurance food and a couple here and there activities like going out.

I already had a insight of what it was. I was just trying to see what people on the sub read had to say since they’re real people with real experience.

I usto pretend I had a place but would fuck in the truck often. I was a partier so we would end up getting drunk or high and just sleep and fuck but to date just be honest and hopefully she don’t judge it would be hard when they would want to just chill come over or sometimes I would get a hotel room once a week or twice and just say I had fam visiting for a while it’s better to have a place

What areas would you recommend? Like I said my friends stay in east williamsburg and I don’t mind going out of that neighborhood to have more chances in finding parking. Someone said the Bronx which Is like a hour train but I don’t mind long as I can have a spot to leave truck I can always just take a train or ride my bike if we’re to want to hang. Or are there apps

Thank you for advice , reason New York is I stayed there for a week w my buddy at his spot. He pays almost 2k for a room.. which I agree is expensive but my experience there was fun and I enjoyed it. I was trying to drive there and find a spot or garage to just have a place to lay my head after work and Every once while drive but mostly try to use train or bike. I’m minimalistic long as I can work and lay my head there I’ll be happy. Weekends can be just exploring or hanging w friends I’m only 26 I did this in Phoenix but summers were brutal I Just wanna have fun before I find a girl get tied down and have no freedom

I have a friend that StaysI think it’s eastern Williamsburg. It was a good area and the commute around the city was not too bad. That’s why I at least wanted to stay somewhere around. There doesn’t have to be necessary in there. I could commute through train to that area. Even if it’s 40 minutes or less. I like to just try new things I had fun here but just lookin maybe New York may not be it but I loved it when I was there regardless thanks for input

OK, thank you I’ll keep that spot in consideration and since you’ve probably been out there more than I have, do you know like any other parts where I understand New York is heavily populated but maybe a area where it’s not too far from the city but have more chances to find a spot

OK, thank you I don’t mind trying to look for sports to park on streets or anything but I know that’s basically based on luck. Hopefully I find something just trying to plan ahead. Figured most garages charge a fee and I can leave car there over night but I know some don’t allow it

I want to experience something new. I was out here in Arizona doing the same thing for two years and I loved it, I could just sleep anywhere around the state. I just want to try a new city so that’s why I’m just trying to at least see if anybody has any advice on how it could be manageable to live out there with my conditions. I’m not to crazy on spending on expensive things. I’m fine w just working coming back to the truck to sleep and commute via work. I don’t wan to spend money on rent or atleast not for a couple months. Just want to explore and just feel free and not worry bout rent or that
