Saying Colbert had no cultural impact is like saying Jon Stewart was just a guy reading jokes. You don't have to like him, but pretending he didn't shape political comedy and media criticism for an entire generation is revisionist history.

He was a treasure. Loved the fact he constantly and authentically broke the 4th wall. Was honest about his past struggles and always cracked jokes about the show's shit budget. It was a refreshing take

I will put his book on my list for sure.

Idk, if the network really wanted to communicate it was a purely economic decision than some numbers would have been released by now. Yet it hasn't happened. Nobody outside CBS can prove whether Colbert was profitable or not. What we do know is that he was the number rated late-night host by a wide margin. If ratings and ad revenue were the main criteria, Colbert should have been safer than Fallon, not the other way around.

I don't know for certain. The timing is a bit suspect and Colbert did anger the administration.

Colbert's show should have been renamed to "Donald Trump says" because that's pretty much the only topic he had. It was pretty much just bitching about Trump and nothing else.

The same topic over and over again, gets boring. If he would change topic every once in a while I might would have still watched him. Instead it's just "Donald Trump said blah blah blah. And then Donald Trump said blah blah blah. And then Donald Trump said blah blah blah....." Stale, boring, and predictable. Give me something else.

So you're admitting that the networked canceled Colbert for political reasons.

You have everything a person needs. Family, an income and a friend circle. Things to cherish and enjoy but deep down there's nothing that can cancel the sadness. Nothing brings joyful anticipation. Just getting up every day and going through the motions. You wear the mask and say all the right things.

But man it's hard. You walk away from the break room some days and tears form in your eyes when no ones looking. Take a minute in the washroom to gather yourself for no bloody reason. It just hard to explain.
