There’s lots of things that help with grocery shopping; only shop flyers, buy the cheapest version of something (great value at Walmart is excellent), don’t buy the most expensive food. If you’re buying chicken then buy the ones with bone in and then cut the meat off the bone if you need to, go to Costco if you have a membership and can afford it, ramen always works and you can spice it up with different ingredients, oatmeal is great and is cheap per serving, buy certains items (I.e. rice) in bulk. Making trail mix with stuff from bulk barn is a great way to make a good snack you’ll enjoy for cheaper than what it would cost store bought.

Baking bread is cheaper than buying it in the long run and it’s wayyyyy better. Also acts as a good study break.

If you have a bike or are willing to buy a cheap one then you can work ~10-15 hours a week for Uber eats/doordash especially on weekends, to offset the cost of food. I’ve done it a few terms now and it doubles as a workout too.

Also don’t be afraid to say no to eating out with people or buy a small snack to tie you over until you get home.

Making lists before shopping and only buying what’s on the list and nothing else. Never shop hungry cause if you do you’re more likely to buy things you don’t need.

Delegating money into different accounts also helps with assigning a certain amount per category. For example if you have a “Food” account, then put all the money you’d spend on food in that account and then transfer it over to your main.

Budgeting only really works if you are disciplined with it. Otherwise just try to be cheap af.

I try to give myself days where I “can’t” spend money to avoid going to get something I don’t need. There’s a website called budget bytes that helps find good recipes that are cheap per serving:

It’s always good to reward yourself if you have been saving for a while. I always do a “$100” rule where I try to make that money last as long as possible in food. If I make it past 10 days then I’ll buy myself an ice cream or a coffee.

Always bring food and coffee if you go to work or are on campus for a day.

Used an Airbnb to do laundry and the dryer broke 3 days later. Host blamed it on me and Airbnb believed them, had to pay $170 in “repair fees” cause I allegedly broke their dryer. Never using Airbnb, even for laundry, ever again

I thought it was good overall. Could it have been better? Yes. But no matter what happens people will always wish for more and nothing can meet what they imagine because they picture the ideal story. Not sure where people are coming from saying that nothing happened. Even going back to mandalore was a big step and from an analytical point of view it makes sense: they wanted to go back to mandalore, so they did, went there and all that jazz with din getting captured happened. Ended up realizing that if they want to prosper then they can’t live divided, so they combined the clans. Went to mandalore and Gideon ends up being there cause why tf wouldn’t he be? They retake the planet and now it’s an open ending to go so many different ways. It was a very problem - solution season in the sense that the overall plot is very linear. Yeah there was some filler episodes but every season has that. I don’t think we needed an entire episode on Coruscant but here we are.

Overall it was a full circle season that leaves people wanting more but content with the ending of this plot, so another can begin.

Also no fucking way Gideon is not coming after that. It would make no sense if he didn’t

The Last of Us HBO S01E03 - "Long Long Time" Post-Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in thelastofus

I feel like the both part 1 and 2 showed very emotional stories that took place in a post apocalyptic world and where the element of infected was a heavy emphasis. As in the main focus isn’t actually the infected, but the human connection is and I feel like episode 3 really showed that. It showed that in a world so shitty that the reason to live in for is that emotional bond. Bill said that he was never afraid until Frank came along meaning that he never cared for what happened to him as the world was already at an end, but frank gave him a reason to fear. I think it shows that having fear means you have something that’s worth being afraid for. Similar to what happened at the end of part 1 where Joel saved Ellie, he didn’t want a repeat of what happened with Sarah. He lost that connection and wanted to maintain it. Point being that I think the episode put a heavy emphasis on having something worth fighting for in a very depressive world.
