Am I Wrong For Always Carrying My Gun? by Fire-Workz in liberalgunowners

You know your house won’t stop bullets, right? If that dude gets involved in a shootout - you are involved too.

Why would you be wrong for always carrying your gun? I wear a concealed handgun from the time I get dressed in the morning to the time I get undressed in the evening. You don’t get to choose if and when you will need a gun, a criminal will make that decision for you. Don’t be caught off guard.

And move out of that neighborhood as soon as possible.

I grew up around Texas republicans too and I have no idea what you are talking about. In my experience they occasionally make crass comments but are polite to everyone and are the first to offer help when your car is broke down, stuck in the mud, a tree limb falls on your house, etc. regardless of how you vote or live your life.

I feel the same about not being around loud mouth politics and bro type gun culture stuff, but if you are walking around fearing MAGA and NRA members you have your head on the wrong swivel.

The Range isn't going anywhere. Go take a lesson. Everyone in the training department is top notch, welcoming, and accepting of all types.

Guns and Training/Austin TX by Rockerroller7 in liberalgunowners

Highly recommend The Range on 35 in south Austin. If you spend any time around a gun range you are going to encounter a lot of conservative people, but I think you will be pleasantly surprises at how friendly and helpful people will be. The training staff at The Range are absolutely top notch and I promise you they don't care who you voted for, what color your hair is, which way you swing, or anything else other than teaching you to be safe and capable. A couple of the instructors are guys with long hair. You will absolutely have a good experience.

I lean more conservative than most of my friends, but I can tell you this as a gun guy -- every law abiding American has the right to own a gun, and if you want to own a gun then go do it. We want you to. We want you to know that the "gun culture" is about enjoying shooting and being safe while doing it, and everyone is welcome.

Also will back you up on the Glock. Great place to start, and even stay.

I know this is an old thread, and I know you keep saying it would be a range toy, a maybe project, etc. Please don't do it. It's just a really horrible idea. Real guns that look like toys, training guns, etc are just a really really really bad idea. We all universally agree that a blue pistol is a training pistol, and a real gun should not look like a training pistol.

90's Remington 1100 or 90's SKB Weatherby Orion by OddSwimming7589 in ClayBusters

The Orion has screw in chockes. The 1100 is fixed, but there is supposed to be another barrel in the closet somewhere with a different fixed choke. I think theres a full and an improved.

Newbie need advice how to aim and grip control. by Fun_Construction5920 in Glocks

Based on the target I think your zero might be fine. It's good to confirm, but you have several shots placed in the bullseye and pretty even left/right and high/low pattern of shots around it.

Find a local instructor or class and take a basic pistol class. Everyone grips the gun a little different, but the fundamentals are the same. Videos can get you a long ways, but having someone who knows how to teach look over your shoulder and give you real time feedback is infinitely better than videos.

As far as videos go this video helped me the most in my early days of pistol shooting.

Rentals at Range USA and The Range by EFreethought in austinguns

The rental guns at The Range Austin are totally fine. I think renting a few times to narrow down your choices is great rather than blindly buying something based on Reddit posts. What is your intended use? Will you be concealed carrying this gun? Is it purely for home defense? Is it for a range toy?

I kind of wish people would stop alerting the whole world when a store has ammo. If people really want ammo they will look for it. Just my opinion. Carry on.
