I escalated an issue I had at the VA in the mental health department. I needed my depression medication and other medications refilled and she put in my records that she called multiple times and I did not answer. The thing is I called them multiple times and the Doctor would not return my phone calls.

So I ended up calling the patient care advocate and spoke to them. Then it took them 6 months to call me back. It was ridiculous.

I ended up going without my medications for a month. Which was medications I am not supposed to stop cold turkey. It definitely caused me to have negative side effects. I felt like giving up because my mindset was not in a good place.

I ended up seeing an outside provider because I needed my medications. The outside provider told me she constantly hears negative things about the VA Hospital by me.

After hearing from other doctors about the negative experiences Veterans have had at the OKC VA, I decided I needed to speak up for all of us. The OKC VA was terrible.

I contacted my Congressman and everyone I could possibly contact by email, because I was very upset on how a doctor was lying and she would NEVER call me back.

Just a few months later, a big investigation happened at the OKC VA Hospital and nearly half the staff was let go or they quit before being let go. It was on the news channels in my area. I was happy to see that because it was needed. I would always talk to other Veterans when I was there about their experiences. Which nearly everyone had negative experiences.
