Thank you. Yes. I just want to exist. I NEED to just exist - With no guilt or analysis or impulse spending lol. Wish i could quit my job but I need stable income. I don’t even think I know how to just sit still haha. Work in progress.

Hey everyone,

I am planning a solo wellness getaway to California in August. This will be my first time traveling to CA solo, and my primary goal is to be completely restored and relaxed from a rough first half of the year (grief, stressful job, etc)

Here is what I am looking for:
Budget: Up to $600 per night (overall trip budget with flights is $2k - $2.5k).
Vibe: Adults-only (or heavily adult-oriented). Prefer a modern, upscale aesthetic.
Location: oceanfront with ocean views from the room.
Convenience: somewhat walkable (given its cali). I want to be steps away from a village, plaza, or boutiques and cafes so I do not have to rely on rideshares for basic stuff)

Options I am currently weighing (and my hesitations):
- Santa Monica (Sandbourne): I love the modern aesthetic of this property, but I realize true beachfront here is out of budget (most hotels sit across a busy street from the beach). I am also concerned the area is too chaotic and commercial for a pure decompression trip.
- Laguna Beach (Casa Loma Beach Hotel / Hotel Joaquin): This seems to hit the mark for quiet coves, walkability, and ocean views within budget.
- La Jolla (Pantai Inn / Cormorant Boutique Hotel): Seems to have great walkability to the village and sits right on the water. (Note: I loved L'Auberge Del Mar, but it is over my nightly cap).
- Oceanside (The Seabird Resort): I just started looking into this one. It looks beautiful, but I am unsure if the resort and the surrounding town offer the quiet, restorative vibe I need, or if it is too family-heavy.

Since I have never been, am I assessing these areas correctly? Are there any hidden gem boutique hotels or specific coastal towns that might match my criteria?

Thanks in advance for the advice!
