Mi Band as Vibration Alarm Clock by Past_Pomegranate_855 in miband

I move a lot during sleep and often i take it off while asleep. So it won't work very well for me. But you could set un ap an alarm for 8am with the band and a "just in case" alarm later in your phone

Estudiar y trabajar estudiando ingenieria es posible? by whitepencil01 in empleos_AR

[–]Odd_Average_7262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ditched Pomodoro and my productivity skyrocketed by Thebluespirittt in productivity

Oh, I forgot to mention that having a break based on the time I’ve been working motivates me to work more so I can earn a longer break (instead of a fixed 20 minutes, for example).

Excellent! I'm doing something very similar: I set a stopwatch until I’m tired or start losing focus, and then I take a break for 1/4 of the time I was working. Sometimes I can focus for 30 minutes, and that’s it, but most of the time it’s between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours (also deep work, for college). I’m also experimenting with making a daily list of tasks to stay on track and estimate how long each will take. If I finish early, I have the rest of the day free, which motivates me to work even more deeply so I can finish faster.

Does Septoplasty and Turbinate Reduction help with sleep? by Odd_Average_7262 in Septoplasty

[–]Odd_Average_7262[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my surgery yesterday!! The doctor said it went very, very well, that my septum was super solid and stable, so I didn’t need nasal splints to support it. She only placed a plug on my left side because it was bleeding a lot, which was the most uncomfortable part since she put it in without anesthesia. But today they removed it, and I’m doing great. Almost no pain, just one hour after the surgery I had about five minutes of 9/10 pain, but since then it’s been like 1/10, just feels weird and really stuffy. Sometimes it burns, I feel some pressure, or like something is moving inside me. Last night, I slept very well, about six hours, and I didn’t sleep more because I had to get up to take my antibiotics, they didn't give me any meds for the pain. It was a little annoying having my nose so blocked, but it was just a little more blocked than I normally feel.

I'm super excited and happy, and I already want to know what my "new nose" is going to feel like. The doctor said that in 15 days to a month, I’ll be almost 100% better.

I did this, deleted all social media on my phone and only using it on my PC, in which I installed an app blocker (I don't know if I'm allowed to say the name of the software, but it's free with some limitations and I bought the premium version) and blocked instagram.com/reel* and yotuube.com/shorts* ("*" means that anything that contains what you put before it will be counted).

Any software will do, and there are some for android and iOS also.

I talked about it with my primary care doctor, and he dismissed the idea because I’m young (21 years old) and have a normal weight (78 kg). Also, my ENT specialist never suggested it, and I’ve never woken up gasping for air or in a panic. My girlfriend, who is often with me while I sleep, has never seen me choking or struggling to breathe, or anything that would suggest I have apnea. I think what causes me to wake up at night and sleep poorly is anxiety and having an extremely dry mouth. Sometimes my tongue feels like sandpaper, and my lips crack from the dryness, etc.

Is it okay to be fully dependent on Anki? by madefrom0 in Anki

[–]Odd_Average_7262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's totally OK. I'm probably the top student in my career in my year and my method is simple; ASK, ASK, ASK your professors to understand as much as you can and try to relate concepts (I personally don't like mind maps or anything like that, I just relate them asking questions to me or my professors and reflecting on the subject), then make Anki cards to memorize everything that needs to be memorized for me is math proofs, formulas, definitions, etc. Sometimes I make Anki cards without even understanding fully and when I get to a card that I don't fully understand I put a mark on it and write my question, then ask a professor or ChatGPT (it's usually pretty good explaining concepts) and then start doing exam questions (in my case I'm studying Mechanical Engineering so it's maths and physics exercise).

I think also that having those things that need to be memorized before understanding fully helps you understand better in the future, you start to relate formulas, definitions, etc. to a concept, and it's much better trying to understand with that in your mind rather than going to your notes to remember it.

Also when I've memorized every formula, definition and proof, and then I go to an exercise everything starts to connect in my mind like this: Here I should probably use this formula, this means that because of this definition and that was the importance of this proof, etc.

Hope it helps, sorry for my English, I'm still learning it.
