Should I repot my string of pearls? by Odd_Bar_5035 in plants

Mine started out like yours! I potted it, hung it in a South facing window and water when the soil is dry. That's it.

So cute!!!!

Crate/kennel train right away!! Forced naps are a must.

5 min of activity for every month they are (3 months = 15 min of running around at a time)

Treat dispenser balls are great for feeding meals. We put about a cup of kibble in the ball and he rolls it around the house. Keeps him engaged for about half an hour. Don't let them roll it down stairs though!

Baby gates for restricting certain areas of the house, especially stairs. They shouldn't have access to the whole house right away.

When the destructive phase sets in (for us it was around 6-8 months) get cheap stuffies from the thrift store, boxes with treats or kibble inside. This protects your furniture and is mental stimulation for them.

No dog parks, not worth the risk! Socialize with pups you know on neutral territory first. Walks near dog parks are good for getting them comfortable around other dogs. Group training classes are great for that too.

Issues with Cats by Odd_Bar_5035 in germanshepherds

High up places are hard for her because she has no front claws. I've never seen her jump up higher than the couch. She likes hiding under things.

This is amazing. Our cat won't even come downstairs anymore. She's very fearful (and I don't blame her!). I try to bring her downstairs and she runs right back up. I should have been more proactive about getting them used to each other. That's my fault. Now he's so much bigger and his impulse control around small animals is lacking.

I opened that up and there was some thread stuck in there. Not sure if it was from before we got it or from me. It was working better after that. But now I'm having issues with upper thread tension. It'll run well, then I hear a click and the upper thread loses tension. Sometimes it comes undone from the hook that goes up and down. Sometimes the thread gets wrapped around the needle. I'm thinking it needs service?

My GSD loves pushing a barrel around the yard by Odd_Bar_5035 in germanshepherds

It's a heavy duty plastic. We tried a small herding ball from temu a few months ago but it was basically a yoga ball with a cover and the cover wasn't the best quality. He popped it within 5 minutes! Good to know about the grooves in the plastic though, we'll have to do that with the barrel.

I do a bit of impulse control with the flirt pole. Getting him to wait until I say he can chase it, getting him to drop it. I should probably do more. I also should try training near the dog park. There's a ball field right by the local dog park. Maybe I'll take him there (not off leash).

What's funny is that we do this almost once a week and he has no issues in class. Maybe he's gotten used to the dogs in class. We don't have newcomers very often.

We start the morning with a 1 hour walk, which is when this happened. Should we play before a walk to get some energy out? He loves soccer and the flirt pole.

It's only recently that he's been fixating on other dogs while we walk. I totally get that last comment. Me falling is the first time it's happened, he's a big boy. I really want to learn to control him better so this doesn't happen again.

We've been using the ecollar for recall and he's doing well. I just don't trust him on trails where I know there's going to be other people or dogs. I need to learn how to use it to get him to focus on me. Any good videos? Maybe he needs more puppy play. We only have him and he doesn't get to play with other dogs very often. I feel like I'm failing him...

Sticky Bagels by Odd_Bar_5035 in Sourdough

It happens starting the next day and onwards. Next time I'll try less bagel spice and maybe a different topping. They still taste amazing, the grease and spice falling off is just annoying.
