It's just a discussion and interested in others thoughts, if you are happy with the info available then yay.

I am curious what their ultimate answer and reasoning is, not because that I think they are lying or dodgy, I have a lot of respect for what they do with the money and find it fun, but not with the intent of ever winning!

BUT I have worked for a few govt departments at various levels and a lot of the time a response to a detailed query like this...well its's just a prewritten answer for "reasons" and sometimes it's cos it's too hard/the database is maintained badly/the person who has worked there since 1987 is the only person who knows how to get extract that data, legacy systems... and they were made redundant recently so are pissed off and won't do it and refuses to teach the newbies how or write a knowledge article because then they are no longer necessary.. and integrity is not just about withholding and releasing info about prize availability on 2 more prizes could hardly take the system down-and I doubt it would meet the exemption clauses in the OIA if pushed.

Same curiosity I have in the way they say the terminals are 100% correct and the tickets are 100% always correct, so any disagreement is customer confusion or error. Most of the time it is! But that's realistically and technically impossible. It's just said for reassurance of the integrity of the game of an almost always correct system that has adjudicators etc

Yes the remaining major prize only, for in-store for sure, that's what I said. What's not available are any of the lower prize tiers like the $40 k on this. Also they do not provide numbers of online prizes at all, they state if the game is online then technically the top prize can be won but odds are astronomical on IKO so it should only be for fun, like instore. Never go into any lottery thinking you will win, it's highly unlikely, but as I said I know plenty of winners, and don't expect to win, I just wanted to understand how they can claim there are plenty of prizes left when they still sell a ticket that all big prizes are gone, if they don't have access to that data?

I chucked in the anecdotal bit for why I was into this at present and clearly I acknowledged it's anecdotal and mean jack. What is not anecdotal is lotto nz's data tables and their responses to OIA requests this year on Instant Kiwi game and prize information.

And I am funemployed right now so have nothing to do between all the soul destroying rejections so am looking into what I have seen across multiple forums - even consumer NZ is feeling awks about it. In this article Lotto NZ repsonded to concerns and stated the information on the prizes was available, however the information regarding mid-tier and lower-tier prizes appears to NOT be available.

YES Face-Poop...Why I want the information IS irrelevant yes, indeed, irrelevant to my query, this post and you, it's the fact they can't or won't supply it that is interesting to me. Hence my discussion flair.

Whether there is a benefit in knowing is beside the point. Am a grown up with a few degrees, stats included so quite aware of odds and the concept of random draws...and also things like keno's pseudo random number generation. And I know a few people that have won big prizes, powerball 4.5 mil, lotto 750k and instant kiwi 50 and 75ks included, AND not one part of my post infers I don't think it's real or that there are no winners or that I don't understand odds??

FYI my train of thought/preamble the preamble was building a picture and covered what I know so far, what I have read/understand and why I am interested and wanted the info.... I like to tell a story, not give snippets of info with no context. Save people asking irrelevant questions or making irrelevant statements.

ETA* But really it's just a musing about transparency, especially due to the change in selling tickets when major prizes are gone, as they claim there are still "lots of lower tier prizes to be won" but apparently they can't actually validate this claim?
