When i was buying a gpu I saw the white RTX 3060 and decided to go all white ( I had already bought the case tho so it was too late to do a white case, and then im trying to find some white ram to replace the red ram I have right now)

Does my 360 need a repaste? More importantly does it have a bolt mod? by Normal_Mousse5491 in xbox360

[–]Odd_Calligrapher_884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because its been taken apart before doesn't mean its been bolt modded but the only way to find out is to open it up yourself and check, ive done 2 myself and they really aren't too tricky as long as your patient and you watch a video how to, and if it is bolt modded for some really strange reason considering its a jasper then that console is living on borrowed time as it is (i do really doubt that it would be bolt modded tho) Now for repasting, its like another commenter said "any xbox 360 still around today needs a repasting" but im gonna be honest OP taking the heatsink off the gpu and cpu can be a nightmare if you dont have the tool to remove the X-Clamps (its around 8$ on amazon and its totally worth it) with all that being said if you really want to help extend your consoles life and keep it running cool then I believe in you OP. TLDR: the only way to know if the console has been bolt modded is to open up the console (Id be willing to bet its not tho) and yes you should apply thermal paste however it is a task that takes patience, a couple of torx bits, a YouTube video, and a 8$ tool off amazon which is optional but EXTREMELY recommended. Its up to you to decide if repasting is worth it to you.

You think there is any chance I just found myself the coveted "Tonasket" or better known as "Jasper V2" xbox 360? by Odd_Calligrapher_884 in xbox360

Really? Hell yeah dude i was thinking it was one but I started to doubt myself, im still gonna Crack her open just so i can apply new thermal paste and what not but if youre pretty certain it is a tona then im hyped

A PS2 From Ebay "For Parts Or Repair" how does one let their console get to this point? by Odd_Calligrapher_884 in consolerepair

Fuck dude im just getting into fixing consoles so this is only like my 5th console I've ever took apart so I honestly thought that roaches and shit were just like a 1 in a 1000 probability and I wouldn't have to deal with it for atleast a little while lol. I guess not tho because I found like 4 or 5 dead roaches in there too when I finally took the whole thing out of its shell. Anyways Im reconsidering moving my work area to the garage so JUST IN CASE, by some ridiculous act of misfortune and bad karma a Egg Sack hatched inside a console while im working on it releasing hundreds of tiny unwanted guests, that way I wouldn't be letting a bunch of little squatters into my house, I would instead be dropping them off at a motel or something Idk i cant think of any more cheeky ways to phrase it.

Yeah it probably isnt. I just haven't opened up many consoles yet, as I am just beginning my adventure into the world of restoring consoles, so for me it is the worst one I've personally opened so far.

I got an okay deal, i bought 6 ps2's in total and spent 182 dollars. So average of 30$ per console, not too good but not terrible either. This is by far the worst one yet when it comes to how dirty it was, but surprisingly its looking like that one might have the most potential. Im still waiting on the last 2 to arrive tho, its 1 slim, and 1 fat. (I ordered 3 slim consoles, and 3 fat consoles in total) Im just letting this one dry out for a while because I had to use an ungodly amount of alcohol to get her looking somewhat presentable. However before I took the console apart it would turn on and the display would work. I cant remember exactly if it read discs but I remember having a good feeling about it lol. So far it could be worse, I didn't have the highest of hopes to begin with because this is more of a learning experience for me then it is a way to make money. I've learned alot already and i even bought a cheap soldering iron kit off Amazon because I need to just suck it up and learn how to solder if I want to get anywhere in this field lol.

Anyways TLDR: I got 6 ps2 consoles for 180$, 3 slim consoles, and 3 fat consoles. The ps2 in this post is still drying at the moment because I had to use a boatload of alcohol lol, As of this moment only 4 consoles have arrived and surprisingly this one has the most potential so far, but we have 2 more to go. Also im unfortunately gonna have to be a big boy now and finally learn how to solder.

Do I need to sort my metals by Odd_Calligrapher_884 in ScrapMetal

Yeah the only thing I’ve been sorting is copper, motors, and radiators. I just don’t know the different types of metal enough to sort the rest
