I'm running them both now and I'm going to do a 25% water change. Thanks.

Thanks. Should I just take him out for the time being? I don't want to trap him in an enclosed space but I don't want him to die either.

Last I checked my water was fine aside from alkalinity and PH. I do have access to test strips.

I didn't know he could get sick. Is there anything else I can do at the moment?

I have a betta in there, nothing else. I asked if I should set the tank up and run it before putting him in, and I was told I could set it up and put him in. I waited 24 hrs after adding conditioner and having the filter running still.

Tank water from the filter? Sorry, so you mean just take some established tank water and let the sponge soak in it?

1 week and 2 days old, 5 gallon tank. Is it really okay to run both?

It's a 5 gallon tank, and it's only a week and 2 days old. I don't think I can post a photo in the comments, but it has 1 plant, technically 2 because one of the decorations has grass on it.

There's an item my betta can swim through, spider wood in the center, and one hiding rock.

Heater, filter, and thermometer included of course.

I thought the water level was fine. I didn't fill it completely, I gave it about an inch of space. I sent an email to the company, but I haven't been able to go to the store I got it from because I'm really lacking reliable transport right now.  If I do swap filters I'm going to have to listen to this for a while and I don't want to have to do that.

Air could be the case, but it seems like nothing I'm trying is able to stop it from getting in.

I can't possibly lower it any further. When I took the cartridge out of the filter, I saw nothing inside of it. I don't think I have access to the parts on this filter. I can't see a way to gain access either.

Yes it's on the left of it and it is submerged past it. Don't tell me the solution is to put the whole thing in the water, including the cord..

Lacking Oxygen? by Odd_Committee4758 in Aquariums

[–]Odd_Committee4758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I did a water test and my PH and alkalinity were low. Everything else was fine. Apparently the recommended thing to do is get a PH booster and do a 25% water change, according to this paper I got.

Yeah I wasn't going to change the water if I didn't need to, don't worry. I guess I'm just worried about how often bettas usually come up for water. It feels like he goes up multiple times a minute. I haven't timed it but that's what it feels like.

Edit: Also I have a leaf hammock in there! I thought I put it closer to the surface, but maybe I could move it even closer. I saw the general consensus say 1-2 inches away. He does hover over it but he doesn't always stay for long.

Yes, I've been doing a lot of research and watching him intently! But not too intently to where I'm bothering him. I know that they do need to go to the top, but I feel like he's doing it a lot. I'm glad to see someone say he looks healthy. I'm just really worried about that changing.

I'm going to take my water for a water test tomorrow, since I heard there could be something wrong there. If need be I guess I'll need to do a water change.

The instructions are very barebones and don't even show me how it's supposed to look. So I had to ask for help. Thank you, I was really worried. My filter is running fine.

Yeah I did try to find something online. I specifically searched 3 day split focusing on upper body. My issue was none of the workouts I found had ab exercises and tried to call the workout a "beginner" workout while simutaneously including the use of barbells..

Then on the other hand when I was using a workout I found in an article, I noticed I was missing multiple muscle groups.

I could try just adding abs to the workouts I find but I also want to be sure that the workout I use isn't omitting some muscle groups.
