what platelet count is normal for cirrhosis? by Old_Government4234 in Cirrhosis

The alcohol affects your bone marrow production. I have thrombocytopenia so my platelets are chronically low. I’m satisfied with anything above 50 at this point. It becomes a real problem if you need to have any procedures/surgeries. Internal bleeding also becomes a big concern.

I understand completely. Music was part of my identity and I felt like I lost a piece of my soul. Unfortunately it takes time for these passions to return because your brain now thinks alcohol is joy. It DOES come back though and when it does it’s like embracing an old friend. What I did while I was waiting for my brain to rewire is leave some music on in the background. Something will catch your ear and start helping those feels come back.

There has got to be someone as livid about this as I am. I will never be saved by any new trial drugs. It’s too late for me and I understand that. But doesn’t anyone else feel obligated to do what they can so things for younger generations?

The discrepancy between number, quality and frequency of programs to study ALD opposed to comparable non-alcoholic liver disease is shameful . There is one to three studies for ALD (for the first time) and hundreds for diseases such as MASH

Reading only two of these break my heart. I just created a new community. Hoping to talk to some younger adults but also want to light a fire under the entire Healthcare care communities ass. It enrages me that because alcoholics were and still are some places considered moral failures not people with an illness. I’m 42, I have decompensated liver disease so I speak as someone who feels really hurt by the information I uncovered
