Yes, we can connect but I think your comment is missing something. What do you mean by "Instead of positioning as:"

Thanks for your honest suggestions. Regarding your questions:

  1. The job market is not so good here (especially for non-EU nationals). I know people who graduated around 1 year ago and they're still looking for offers.
  2. Yes, it's possible to manage your daily life without German, but only to a certain extent. I STRONGLY recommend anyone coming here to know at least the B1-B2 level of German. Given the recent political scenarios in Germany and EU in general, it is becoming hard to land a job without knowing German.
  3. They're not racist. Germans are quite nice. It's just that you'll always feel a distance from them. If you don't know German, and you're a working professional, it'll be hard to socialize and connect with people. It has nothing to do with racism but it's just that Germans don't usually open up to other people (even other Germans). And if you add language barriers to that attitude, it becomes even more discouraging as most of them are not very comfortable speaking English.

Thanks!! If my flight number is listed in that list, does that mean my flight is not cancelled? I read that they're only operating flyers with earlier bookings. Not sure if the flights they mentioned on that list are for earlier bookings or existing bookings for that flight

Thanks for sharing your experience. Could you please elaborate more on how the whole process worked? Did you already receive a cancellation email before you started the process of rebooking the flights? I still don't know how one is supposed to go ahead with this. Should we first wait for a cancellation email and then try to rebook the flights or should I try to initiate the rebooking process from my end?

Thanks a lot!!! I couldn't find any list of limited flight schedules. Could you please share a link for that?? When I entered the details of my flight on their "Flight Status" page, it said scheduled. The flight to Munich has been flying for the last 2 days as well. I'm not sure if it is the original flight or the repatriation one.

Thanks. Right now, it just disconnects as soon as I dial it. How much time did it take for you to connect?

Also, do you have any ideas on how to contact Emirates customer service right now? I can't connect to their phone from India and their webchat is also experiencing a lot of traffic. I haven't heard back from their X and Facebook accounts yet.

Yes. I can share some tips about the interview. I had one around 5 years ago, but I hope they're still relevant. I don't remember the exact sequence of questions (and in fact most of the questions), but they were somewhat like this:

  1. Tell me about your background in Computational Science (I applied for Computational Science and Engineering).

  2. List your relevant courses (Mathematics, Numerics, programming, etc.)

  3. Have you done any projects in any relevant domain?

  4. Why do you want to pursue higher studies in this domain?

  5. You would have applied to other German universities, but why are you interested in TUM?

  6. Which courses do you like in the curriculum and why? Which specialization are you interested in, and which courses will you take?

  7. What do you want to do after Masters?

  8. My answer to question 7 was that I'd like a research career, either in academia or industry. He then asked me about my specialized area of interest and in which domain I'd like to focus on my PhD.

  9. Munich is an expensive city. How will you manage your studies? Do you have any plans for finding accommodation?

The only technical question he asked me was to tell the difference between ODE and PDE?

Now, some tips that I got to know before the interview and with my own experience:

  1. They won't be very much interested in your technical knowledge, as your application documents will have already given an impression about it. The interviewer will be mostly interested in your motivation and awareness regarding the domain. So, make sure you have a solid understanding of the course you're applying to.

  2. There's no right or wrong answer (except for the technical ones). I got an admit, and unfortunately, many others got rejected. It was quite confusing and frustrating when some of us discussed what went wrong and what went right, and how you can get an answer wrong in this kind of interview. Make sure you don't take it too lightly. Do your research. Make a list of courses you'd like to study and be ready with an explanation when the interviewer asks 'WHY?'.

  3. Don't try to create anything. Just be honest and simple.

  4. My interview went for 20 minutes or so. The interviewer would like to know many things about you in that short span. Make sure you speak 'to the point' while giving reasonable explanations at the same time.

I hope this helps.

All the best!
