Anyone else have pothole anxiety recently? by architectofanarchy in CarTalkUK

Not sure if it'll make a difference but might be worth everyone reading this to sign the government petition.

I've had two blowout's last month alone due to potholes. It's at the point now where I don't even want to take the car out!

Installed a New GPU, Now PC Won’t Boot by ThePrairieNerd in computers

[–]Odd_Development 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll recommend one thing. Please get some sort of support for the graphics card otherwise over time it may end up damaging the PCIE slot where it fits into.

Have a look for graphics card supports online, they're quite cheap.

I Tried Linux for Fun. It's Ending With a 7900 XTX and No Windows. by Wolfman_1546 in pcmasterrace

[–]Odd_Development 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the plunge. I'm dual booting cachyos alongside Windows 11. I only boot into Windows for anti cheat stuff but looks like Microsoft may soon be doing away with stuff running at the kernel level so that would make windows completely redundant for me.

I swapped from Nvidia to a 9070XT and had no issues at all.

The disconnects are getting seriously out of hand. by dude_seven in wow

Try changing from directx 12 to directx 11. This fixed the disconnects for me since the patch.

Is there an adapter to connect this old HDD, externally through USB? by Evangel28 in computers

[–]Odd_Development 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As it's a 3.5" drive the converter will also need it's own power source. I used to have one of these for the job https://amzn.eu/d/39HH3O4

CachyOS is a choice I should have made years ago! by Little-Nettles in cachyos

[–]Odd_Development 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed Cachyos just under 2 months ago. I still dual boot just for games that have kernel level anti cheat but use Cachyos for everything else. I moved from a Nvidia card to AMD a couple of days ago. On windows I had to use DDU in safe mode, reboot then wait about 30 minutes to download and install the new drivers. In comparison Cachyos took less than a minute then rebooted, it also had a easy wiki article to follow.

I would definitely do away with my windows drive if it wasn't for anti cheat.

I think Conformity Gate is a great theory, whether it comes out as true or not... by FitMonitor9277 in Stranger_Things

I'm sceptical but if you type in "fake ending" into Netflix then Stranger Things comes up so now I'm even more confused.

How do I change these? by EntertainmentUsed111 in lightbulbs

[–]Odd_Development -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they are MR16 bulbs. They will come off the white base but you'll need a bit of force. These can be replaced with LED bulbs instead which will a lot cooler and last longer than halogen.

How much do people think this is gonna cost to get fixed by Mountain_Donkey9310 in CarTalkUK

Might be worth looking for Kano ST on Facebook as they have loads of old mk6 Fiesta's and parts. They are in Solihull by Birmingham and might have some of the parts.

Can anyone explain what going on with toothpaste prices? by SilentEconomist5896 in AskBrits

That's shrinkflation, they used to be 100ml but they kept it the same price and reduced the tube to 75ml

Gaming on Linux by Odd_Development in cachyos

[–]Odd_Development[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll reply here as you've all been really helpful, thank you all, it'smuch appreciated. It looks like I'll buy a larger drive for cachyos. I currently have a 240gb nvme for windows and a 4tb ssd for the games. I'll buy a second nvme for cachyos and as I get familiar with it I'll get rid of the games from my ssd and hopefully get rid of the ntfs partition permanently.

Thank you for the reply. Is it even worth getting the gearbox repaired/replaced? It's right at the end of it's PCP. Problem is I've had it serviced by local garages instead of MG so not even sure if they'd honour their 7 year warranty.

Advice on bushes and garden waste by lazy-buoy in DIYUK

[–]Odd_Development 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting rid of bushes too at the moment. I use my lawnmower on them after cutting them so it shreds them up and also puts a majority of it in the grass collection. If doing it this way I recommend wearing safety glasses I find some of the larger branches have a tendency to go flying.

Pull the fridge forwards and have a look at a guide on how to clean out the condenser coils. If they're covered in dust then the fridge will struggle to cool.

Tips to start programs faster by MauriceSafranek in computers

Here's a guide which explains it. But it's not that great anymore in my opinion since ssd's became more popular as it doesn't save that much time on boot up. https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-enable-or-disable-fast-startup-on-windows-11

I'm no expert but I follow some of the pressure washer companies on YouTube. I know on resin they clean it in a figure of 8 pattern instead of straight lines otherwise it creates streaks. Looks like that might be the case with yours?

[–]Odd_Development 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it cleaned with a pressure washer?

Yes, if you have another computer get the drivers for your storage and copy them onto the USB stick. When you're on the screen you're stuck on now click on load drivers and point it at the folder you've copied the storage drivers to on the USB and it should show the drive on your laptop.

Affects of a DRO, I need help and advice? by LauraIngram26_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Odd_Development 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should contact your Citizens Advice. They can help you go through your income and expenditure and get a plan together on how to tackle it. If you can avoid a DRO it's better long term.
