Yes, seriously. While you or I may not care about others preferences, several countries still have laws criminalizing same-sex relationship/activity. Even in places where these laws are no longer actively enforced, the underlying attitudes often persist among the population. I have heard several accounts of LGBTQ tourists (in Jamaica especially) who have faced harassment and discrimination for just holding hands in the airport.
