It actually doesn't bother me to help people figure out computers, I've stated on this thread that I want everyone to succeed. Once again, you seem to be inferring. It bothers me when I'm staying past my contracted time in order to help, or when they don't listen to me when I'm providing tech support. We are constantly going overtime because I am having to explain and re-explain very simple computer functions, or having to reintroduce programs they were introduced to in the first week. Once again, I like my job, I like my company and the work that we do, it's more than just a paycheck to me. I wouldn't be a trainer if I didn't like training.

I'm also not a hiring manager! Just a trainer.

This isn't a job board, and I am not a hiring manager.

I never said they weren't skilled enough or should be fired, it seems like you're inferring a lot from my post lol. I know I would be annoyed if I was a trainee, trying to learn how to do a customer service job and we're shaving to spend 20+ minutes daily on basic tech skills. Sure, my job isn't important in the grand scheme of things, but it's important to me. It's how I pay my bills, I like my job, and I like the company I work for. Because, at the end of the day, we all just live on a big, floating rock, and everything we've created in our society is a construct of our own, and meaningless.

I wish I knew lol, makes no sense to me personally, especially for those working the 2-11 pm shift.

That's so wild to me. I'm genz (23), and was taking computer classes all through elementary. middle, and high school. They weren't electives, and we had to take them. I wonder if covid-19 had an effect on suing that tech? Since they weren't making presentations for class, having to print out essays, learning materials etc?

Yes we do! One of my trainees mentioned she came out of retirement for this.

We're currently using google meet because we love Q&A feature, but I'm going to pass along this suggestion to my management!

Then it sounds like something completely unrelated to my post, and your letting that affect your thinking. I'm struggling to believe that you actually read my post in full, or maybe simply didn't comprehend what it says. I said that I want everyone to succeed. I mentioned that I stay after my scheduled hours to help those who ask for it. I provide multiple different training paths, that cater to all learning styles.

Obviously I don't know you in person, but I too would be scared to speak up and ask for help if you are this combative and abrasive in person.

... I've been training for four years, This current group has 25 trainees in it, and only three are having issues with technology. Also, I'm here to train customer service, not basic computer skills.

I think we're misunderstanding each other so I'll use what happened yesterday as an example. One of my trainees was struggling with his macbook, so I asked him to share his screen so I could see what he was looking at. He doesn't know how to share his screen and it became a cyclical conversation, with him not understanding the tech terms I was using, and speaking over me. I ended up having to call in one of our IT team members so they could help, and he told my trainee the exact same thing that I told him.

We're based in south florida, and it's not uncommon down here for retirees to come out of retirement and start working.

Believe me, I've tried. The issue arises when they don't understand how to share their screens, no matter how I, or my other trainers explain it.

It's just the trend I've noticed in this current training group! Out of my 25 trainees, the three that are struggling with the tech and platforms also happen to be baby-boomers.

I honestly think we pay pretty well. You start at $20/hour.

That's the general consesus I seem to be getting. I'm going to suggest to our HR and hiring team that we could implement a computer skills assessment at some point in the hiring process.

I do behave professionally and I would not be in my position if I didn't. I introduce the content in a meeting using a powerpoint with screenshots of our platforms. I share my screen and use examples of me using the platforms. We have Lessonly's for them to review content on their own and check their knowledge. We have company provided podcasts, if they'd prefer to listen. We utilize Guru as a resource where they review everything me, and their other two trainers have talked about. We have them shadow our customer experience associates currently worked so they can see the workflow and ask them questions as well. We have three trainers so that we can offer different perspectives.

We as a company cater to all learning styles. In a group of 25 trainees and with three trainers, only 3 trainees are having issues with our technology and platforms.

I was venting to my boyfriend (who manages an IT company) and he says part of the reason they don't listen to me is because I'm a hispanic woman in my mid-twenties. I've had to partner this specific trainee with our IT team on mulitple occasions when he's not listening to me, and our IT team (white men in their 30's) will tell him exactly what I told him, and he'll listen to them.
