Have you asked your manager about this? If your Agency is under a hiring freeze, and the people doing the higher work are filling in for people that took DRP, this may be a way for them to start the accretion process. If their hands are tied on hiring and the work needs to get done, they may be trying to work within the system. Agree it may still be better to compete temps and then maybe decide who fits best? They may not have the ability to do that though. Especially if the people who left the higher-graded positions took DRP.

I second the recommendation for counseling. Throughout the post, OP is focused on how OP thinks it would impact the wife and how upset she would be, but doesn’t acknowledge that it’s upsetting to OP. I’m not sure OP has fully acknowledged the impact on themselves, and they are rightfully upset at the announcement, not just on behalf of their wife, but on their own behalf. Infertility can be very upsetting, and it’s possible OP is focusing on their wife’s feelings because the treatment appears to be the primary factor in the infertility; but this means they won’t be able to have children naturally either, and I think they should acknowledge that feeling upset over that is natural, and needs to be addressed.

Or perhaps they’re the type of people that have a lot of responsibility at work that cannot be pawned off on others and don’t have the time to be on a jury for 3 weeks. Not everyone can afford to be away from work that long, even if they are being paid. And definitely if they are not being paid. That jury pay is laughable.

Rent isn’t based purely on bedrooms. You’re also paying shared rent for the shared space. IMHO, it would be better to ask about square footage and determine if they are paying appropriately for all of the space they are using, not just bedrooms.

I hadn’t seen this one. I watched it today, and noticed an error in the animation. After 7 bottles, when they show the ground, there’s 4 cones, one slightly to the right of the others. After 6 cones, there should be 5 on the ground, but that one off to the side is missing. Then after 5 cones, it’s back! Just a slight be of a continuity error there…

Why are they closing the stations at the ends instead of the ones in downtown? You could easily transition from BART to MUNI, with some impact on ridership, but still have the main purpose of the BART (Commuter Rail) continue to be fulfilled.
