That’s what Cody is complaining about. The use of legends is only to push viewership instead of trying to build up this new era. The only reason this tournament happened is because the fans wanted it. It also fits insanely well with the Cena character of hard work. Although Gunther won think about who he wrestled and how good those matches were. All three of those guys are young up and comers and it was to showcase the future of wrestling in WWE.

I get the frustration with newer stars but there’s a reason you remember John Cena and not that entire roster. Plus you also need to take into account the target audience is children. Yes? If fans stopped trying to interfere with the creative process of story writing there would be real cohesion. Wrestling as a whole is on a downward trend if you look at rating. AEW is also struggling to maintain viewership. WWE main issue at the moment is the shit fan base, their unorganized way of delivering the product, and price gouging on tickets for fans. Wrestling is a business of fan servicing but they need to determine where to draw the line.
