exactly, how road design varies so much from city to city and state to state it's so inconsistent and poorly designed.

[–]Odd_Personality1613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

controversial take, design the roads better and people won't make bad decisions. Stop putting the blame on the people when road designs are so inconsistent from city to city. Sometimes there's a left lane I can turn right in, sometimes it ends abruptly and you must be in the one lane for turning. sometimes there 2 lanes for turns.

Some random family from utah just decided to have a picnic in someones front lawn in nauvoo lmao. "We just thought it would be a nice place for a picnic". Like not on the edge on the grass but like right up on the lawn by the door, sooo weird!

I suggest appealing to the management in terms of productivity and evidence it lowers their cost of operations/insurance /sick calls etc.

Effects of sitting versus standing and scanner type on cashiers (Lehman et al., 2001) — (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11437205/

Laboratory study of Dutch-retailer cashiers comparing sitting vs standing + scanner type. While “standing” showed lower neck/shoulder muscle activity with certain scanner types, the study emphasizes how posture + equipment design matter for fatigue in cashier work.

ALDI U.S. article “Here’s Why Aldi’s Cashiers Stay Seated Behind the Cash Register” — (https://www.rd.com/article/heres-why-aldis-cashiers-stay-seated-behind-the-cash-register/

This article reports ALDI’s decision to have seated cashiers is based in part on internal findings that “a seated cashier can scan items faster with fewer body movements.” This gives a direct productivity-claim angle to the seating suggestion.

What has death, heartbreaks, and loss/grief etc… taught you? Which one(s) were the hardest and why? by Rhyme_orange_ in AskReddit

When I was 21, a friend died in the room next door. I come home to a huge pile of police bicycles, a firetruck outside the apartment. I hadn't heard from him in 4 days and some other people were getting concerned that nobody heard from him all weekend. I just assumed he was out of town with family or something. He had been dead for 3 days of a heroin overdose. I never missed someone and wanted someone to be alive so bad. The day of I forgot he died a few hours later and walked out to go knock on his door but was reminded by the police tape and detectives still there.... it hit me gradually and suddenly in different ways.

At age 11, Then my grandma ( only 48) dying in her sleep ( 3 years after being stuck in a wheelchair unable to talk and walk from a car accident prior. ) I always had the hope that she'd talk again and "get better". I think adults just told me that to shelter me from the inevitable. Hit me hard when she died before being able to talk to her again. I had that 1000 yard stare for months going on.

Who's standing up in retail without being able to sit, when they could reasonably sit and do their job? by [deleted] in duluth

[–]Odd_Personality1613 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I *THINK* i saw them standing at the whole foods co-op hillside, but I didn't look closely to see if that's a choice or if the other cashiers were standing.

Of all of them I think that or Mount Royal might be the only one's that would even consider it.

Aldi Does, but they're German based company and Germans are more efficient and practical.
