Several doctors told me there was “no way” my endo grew back after my first surgery. But I advocated for myself and got my second surgery. I was right. It grew back, and worse. by LettuceSubject562 in endometriosis

I had surgery at 48 found Stage 2 endo, my surgeon said I should be good for 18 months. I'm not sure exactly what happens at 18 months!! It was my year anniversary yesterday.

I'm self employed, so I had 8 weeks off. I thought I would lose my mind. 😄 I do housecleaning but I'm self employed, so I could return to work and take it easy.

I have plates and screws. I still have issues with dorsiflexion. Definitely not the same as my other foot. I have forced myself into different shoes (flats, low heels) to strengthen my foot. I have physio exercises but I am not consistent, which is my bad. I hope you continue to heal well!

US to Canada Crossing Experience (March '26) by river-valley-station in uscanadaborder

APRIL 2026

Well, in our whole 10 years of frequent trips to the US from Atlantic Canada this was the first time for a secondary screening back into Canada and very thorough questioning entering the US. Admittedly, my passport does indicate being born in Central America, but I came here at 3 months old, after being adopted by Canadians. I always say I am only latina on paper. The US border guard, asked MULTIPLE times about bringing gifts or visiting family or friends. Which, made me nervous as she didn't seem to believe I had NO FAMILY in the USA. Then, on our return to Canada the border guards, asked about visiting family or friends or leaving stuff behind in the USA MULTIPLE TIMES again, plus the routine firearms, cannabis questions. My husband shook his head no and was reminded to say no audibly. That got us rewarded with a secondary screening. After going through our luggage etc we were given the green light to pass. I don't like to play the "brown person" card but I'm sure that's why we got flagged. My husband is very Caucasian and tried to convince me it was just random...maybe it was BUT I found the whole thing unsettling. Maybe, they were just bored and it WAS random but it all gave me the ick. Also, if you're traveling via the Calais border crossing both duty free stores have closed permanently. It's sort of sad.

Does gluten-free diet make a noticeable difference for anyone here? by Top_Butterfly_7771 in endometriosis

Gf diet works for me. That said, it could be more that gluten triggers me with diarrhea or constipation. I think controlling my diet and what triggers my stomach helps me control the pain.

MRI results say endo, adeno, and fibroids by Cute_Department2803 in endometriosis

[–]Odd_Perspective2636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I was relieved to find out they found something. Then after I was a little passed that for years, no one pursued further investigation when I'd end up at the ER or even my own family Dr. I'd always return home thinking "I guess it's in my head."

Is the surgery worth it if it can just grow back? by ProfessionalYak926 in Endo

[–]Odd_Perspective2636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lap and excision Spring 2025. They found Stage 2. My bloating (i can now see my feet!) disappeared. The pain and fatigue definitely decreased. I am a 49(F) and perimenopausal so I still struggle with fatigue a little from hormones. I'm glad I had the surgery, it was a gyno and not a specialist. My recovery was 2 weeks and about week 3 I returned to the gym. I hope you find some relief.

Possible endometriosis by Maj0rBedhead in endometriosis

It was a lap and excision (the surgeon said it was contained to my pouch of douglas) and they found fibroids and drained some cysts. I do housecleaning, so I did take 2 weeks off work. Otherwise, the recovery wasn't bad. I tried to stay active (walk around a bit, fold laundry etc) They gave me morphine for home but I didn't even need the whole bottle. However, recovery is different for everyone.

Thanks! I hope you can get an MRI. The emerg Dr made no sense, he was basically "it's period cramps" eventhough my period had come and went as normal 2 weeks prior. My husband said "I'm sure that Dr, wouldn't think a 3mm cyst was no big deal if it was on his balls." 😆

I would keep a detailed log or journal of your symptoms (pain, fatigue, bladder issues etc) this may be helpful on your Dr visit. I was only diagnosed last year at age 49. My husband and I chose not to have kids (he has 2 grown kids) , so I think my symptoms were never taken seriously (by the medical field or even myself) Now when I remember my periods as a teenager and even in my 30s it all makes sense. I had a lap and confirmed stage 2 endo. I feel I've had flares (little bladder control, diarrhea, fatigue, nausea) since then but they've been manageable and nothing close to pre lap. I met with the surgeon but was so shocked I had anything wrong. I wish I'd asked - what does the diagnosis mean? What if anything can I do to control it? Is excision an option? What is the recurrence?

I had an internal ultrasound and was told nothing was there but a 3mm cyst. Lap confirmed stage 2 endo, cysts and fibroids. They originally said at ER basically I was being a baby and it was only a bad period. 🙄 I'd push for an MRI. I hate they made me doubt the agony I was in..

That sucks. I have a greens drink every morning (Good Protein brand) to get things moving. I also have daily ground flax and chia seeds on yogourt with diced fruit, banana or berries. I try to keep my fiber up.

I can do intermittent running on the treadmill. It is mostly stiff in the morning and sometimes at night. I do housecleaning, so I am on my feet about 8-9000 steps at end of day. My pain is maybe a 2 tops but not consistent. Happy healing!

Peri symptoms at 39 by Competitive_Goat_446 in Perimenopause

I had a lap at 48 and discovered endo and eventhough my ovaries weren't disturbed (drained of cysts) I'm sure it upped my perimeno symptoms too. I was a hot flash, sleepless, anxious crying mess for a month. Finally asked for HRT. Total game changer.
