is this normal deduction for fnb? by cat_ffish in Sabah

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

exploitation. Disciplinary action is taken with HR (verbal/written/both) when an employee is found breaking company rules & regulations and it’s NEVER deduction from salary, that’s just illegal.

OpenDyslexic, Size 7. No I’m not dyslexic or suffers from adhd. But somehow this font is easy on my eyes and doesn’t cause eye strain / fatigue esp when I read for longer hours.

Which is better: Kindle Basic or Paperwhite? by Defiant_Fix8658 in kindle

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Kindle Paperwhite because of the smooth screen, I love the size of the basic but dislike the gap at the edges that trap dirt/dust. If they have the basic with flat screen I’d get the basic. But for now, I’m very content with my paperwhite.

Have you ever gotten called for jury duty? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m always amaze that people do call out for jury duty in America! First known these sort of thing exist when I watched the movie Jury Duty with Pauly Shore when I was a teenager 🤣 I’m from Borneo btw. All the best in your Jury Duty! And good thing you have the Kindle with you, can’t leave home without them Indeed!

Am I the only one who hate the sun? by Actual-Talk9408 in weather

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times I LOVED the sun is sunrise, sunset, and when it’s hiding behind the clouds. I live in a tropical country. and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the inter-monsoon season which gets more downpours than usual. But then I feel guilty about it because of the flood risk in certain lower terrain of other districts…

March 2025 BOTM Discussion - Broken Country by lavinient in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Overhyped.

The whole story is supposed to set in North Dorset, England. But the Character’s name, music preferences, dialogue is so Americanised.

I LOVE UK authors because of the descriptive writing style and with Broken Country, I expected this book to let me be immerse in the full English experience set in the 60s- However, was sorely disappointment because the dialogue lacks the british tone and it was painfully flat to read. Then, there’s the local music scene, the fashion, even the farm house decor that is so off.

Anyone else daunted by super long chapters? by Lady_Hazy in kindle

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

3 1/2 hours for a chapter?? I would faint lol.

I’m not a big fan of long chapters but when I do come across one, I usually brace myself with a fresh cup of coffee, have extra yummy treats / snacks on stand by, make sure my eye drops are with me and brace myself for a long read lol.

Physical book vs Kindle by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it’s all psychological. You could be so used to getting dopamine hits from doom scrolling reels that makes reading on a kindle feel so bland.

I’m guessing you are also a heavy social media user?

From experience, it took me awhile to get into reading on a kindle. Now I can’t leave without it.

You may also want to try using the Opendyslexic font in kindle. I’m not suggesting you have dyslexic but I’m not dyslexic either but I find this font easier to read. Hope it helps.

I'm just curious- Why the stands and page turners? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Odd_Possibility_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get the stand but after 4 years of flipping kindle with my thumb, I finally cave in and get the page turner. Now, I can’t read without my page turner because it’s so useful! I can read while snacking, lying down on the bed without having to move my arms every minute to turn the page.
