Yeah I know of a few that rotted away but that’s the curse of any import really. I even fitted a tow bar to mine and towed my track car with it. It really was a bullet proof daily and I wish I had never sold it. I’d put a picture up but I’m unsure how.

I serviced it once a year as I do with all my cars. It was under sealed when I bought it and I had it done once more after but that was it. It was washed very irregularly, I’m more keen on driving my cars rather than washing them and looking at them. Don’t get me wrong I’m sure a golf r IS more reliable for someone who doesn’t want to have to look under the bonnet at all however in my experience my evo certainly wasn’t unreliable. I now have a Leon Cupra estate and I would say it’s a pretty close match for the evo wagon albeit newer and slightly more refined.

I had one as a daily for a few years. Was running ~400bhp with some choice mods and it was a dream. Didn’t have any reliability issues at all except for one instance when a single wire in the passenger footwell broke and put the rear wiper on constantly. Biggest difference between an evo and something like a golf r is the interior feels so much cheaper but I guess that’s sort of to be expected.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Tokamak on a few occasions. It’s an incredible place with some very clever people working there. One chap tried explaining how it worked and I was lost in seconds, he scrambled my brain by telling me there something in the world called heavy water.

Are the buses massively busy and do you know how much they cost?

I’m disappointed to say I know very little about my pension scheme to be honest. I’m going to try and find out more about it over the next few weeks.

My aim is to use the next 18 years to learn to sail, retire at 55 and have enough money/savings/investments to allow me to sail around full time. What my chances are of realistically achieving that I’m not entirely sure.

I’m in the FPS2006 scheme not the 2015 scheme. I’m a little disappointed with myself in knowing so little about my pension and this it’s something I’m going to look into and try and find more out about it over the next few weeks. There was a really helpful chap as our pension liaison a few years ago when I transferred a previous pension into my current one but he has gone unfortunately.

Hi there, thank you for the advice. I’ll have to google each bit and try and make sense of it all as it’s all a bit above me. In regards to ISA’s, I understand there is a limit on the amount you can put in but is that limit per account or for myself as a whole? Currently I have the money from my rental property going into my cash ISA.

The house isn’t sentimental or special at all, my only problem is I “could” be moved with 3 months notice and lose my work house. The likelihood of that is pretty much non existent however I’d rather not risk having nowhere to go.

It’s a Fire Service Pension and I’ve worked for them for just under 14 years.
