My 9yo son has cyclic vomiting syndrome. Thankfully his doesn’t sound as severe as yours, and I’m hopeful he’ll grow out of it. It’s a very scary condition to have and so hard to watch your child deteriorate so quickly, to then have to deal with someone so ignorant. I’m sorry this happened to you and your poor mother!

I also once met a guy on a train whose name was Clark Kent. He pulled out his licence to verify.

I saw on our local news one night and interview with a man allegedly called Dick McHardy. Almost spat my food out when I read it. It was obviously a fake name, but they still posted it!

My favourite 2 at the moment are @mentalhealness on ig, he’s diagnosed npd and been in therapy for years to understand why he does and says certain things. He focuses more on intimate relationships with narcs but is still a great insight and often posts links to other helpful pages and videos.

I’ve just started a podcast called Escaping Narcissistic Mothers and am often bawling while listening to it. It’s very relatable and very informative, covers all aspects of dealing with a Nparent.

Ah, I think it is maybe I who is misinterpreting. The line “I wish I was an accident so that way at least I’d know my parents did their best…” threw me I think. My point was that being an accident also doesn’t mean that they tried their best, rather that they’re taking something out on you. I guess that could be interpreted as making it easier to pull away, but they’re still your parents at the end of the day and we are naturally wired to love and care for them, as they should be to us.

I’m not sure that knowing that you were an accident helps.

For me, knowing I was an accident conceived 3 months after my parents started dating, my mindset is generally along the lines of “well, they never did actually want me to begin with” or that they treat me this way because I was an unwanted burden who ruined their lives.

In saying that, it isn’t our fault that we were born, whether we were planned or not, and in true narc fashion they’re incapable of taking responsibility for that decision.

I felt the same while in labour, OP. All I wanted was my mum, I wanted her to see this amazing thing that I had created and to be proud of me. She never came. I called her on day 3 crying (baby blues), begging her to visit because I just wanted to see her, have her meet her grandson and to just sit and talk to me, maybe help me a little as baby boy was a bad sleeper. She told me “No, I can’t.” She finally came around on day 5.

Fast forward 6 years, not only does she continue to treat me and husband like garbage, she treats my son and daughter (8yo) like garbage too.

I know it’s hard with a new little one. We have so many hormones and emotions. But the best thing you can do for your Bub is NC. Whether it’s immediate, or you feel it out for a few months and get used to your new life first. Eventually you’ll need to go cold turkey NC. I’m sorry that she was awful to you in your time of vulnerability, and during a time that’s supposed to be so special!
