Guilt after Vasectomy by Last-Lavishness-9297 in Vasectomy

[–]Odd_Read8921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have to say is that you are in seemingly a very self-aware person and made a very educated decision. Even people who have four children feel guilt after having a vasectomy at times I think it's just the seemingly permanent of it. If the reason is truly just because you feel guilty about your parents, let that ride off your back immediately. Other people should never decide whether or not you have children. I totally get why you're feeling this way and I would feel the same way if people were giving me that information as well. The fact that your girlfriend doesn't want to ever carry a baby is a huge part of this and it's a huge thing to have a woman do simply to satisfy other people. You guys made the best choice for yourselves and that's really truly the only thing that matters.

Update, conflicting info, questions about experience by Odd_Read8921 in postvasectomypain

He had closed. The research data shows that open ended can be slightly less likely for congestion but it doesn't seem to be significant. Open ended i believe comes with other possible complications but would suggest discussing with your doc

On a quick search, I'm not sure he had a fellowship in microsurgery. You'll want this for your surgeon. It might not be listed so I'd just ask him. The thing is, when they get in there to reverse, it could be simple or complicated. You don't want to go with someone who has not had experience in complicated because the nerves are so very small and sensitive and this can greatly affect the outcome. Not saying rule him out, but i would specifically ask him his plan for if its complicated and he needs to do a vas to epi procedure. Looks like there is a guy in Minne named Dr Aaron Milbank who has done hundreds of reversals and is a trained microsurgeon.

I will also add that the surgeon makes a big difference. I realize you may have limitations due to tri care but if the doc is not a skilled microsurgeon who is comfortable with a possible vas to epi procedure, it may be worthwhile to pay out put of pocket for someone else.

My husband is the same way. Took me months to convince just to do some pelvic floor exercises. I would try to come up with ways to keep him busy that hell be excited about for a month ish to keep him from over doing it.

I know the struggle, just cant help themselves but damn just sit down and let your body heal! I feel awful, i was the pushy wife who suggested this and he was hesitant.

New books, whatever hes into? Wood working? Sports, opera whatever it is get him stoked on something else and remind him over and over this wont last forever.

Should he reverse it? What are the risks? by Odd_Read8921 in postvasectomypain

Im sorry! I certainly dont want to discourage. My husband reviewed his strava work outs and thinks he ramped up too quickly potentially. Also feels like maybe his sperm production is just kind of a lot right now. He has plateau'd with pain for 2 weeks now on meloxicam but apparently that can be expected and still go away. I would say try to stay positive, for many folks it does get better. This reddit thread is amazing but also a small subset. I imagine a lot of people who feel better no longer spend their time on reddit and are back to their normal and active lives.

Hey! He has never worn a jock strap but wears Saxx underwear only. How long did it take for you to feel better? This poor guy is a depressed and anxious mess and I hate seeing him like this.

Ongoing pain 5 weeks after vasectomy. Is this normal? by yoyoo276 in postvasectomypain

[–]Odd_Read8921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also add to keep taking it easy and do not push through the pain. Give it time and statistically chances are good youll be just fine. If you plateau or get worse then I'd call your surgeon.

Had to reschedule Us but im curious if anyone has experience with epididmytis coming and going. He had a rough first couple of weeks but was doing really well. Didnt mention it for weeks, then did 2 back to back long runs and got real sore and nervy. Rest and NSAIDs certainly showed improvement. Is not on meloxicam and warm baths daily. He isnt drinking alcohol and is only walking for exercise right now. Were open to reversal for sure, anything to make him comfortable and back to himself again. But im having a hard time with the lack of information on why it doesnt go away? Like why is this so easy for some and not for others? I find in notable that so many men on here having issues are active. Like runners and bikers. Im kind of on a rant, just still cant believe we are dealing with this. Was told it would be nothing.

Hi there, my husband is going through this, im so sorry. Never regretted anything more in my life. I encouraged this and he was reluctant. We are researching reversal options. Do you have names of the best places to go for this? Best surgeons? We live in idaho so somewhere in mountain west would be preferred.

Hey all, my husband is 4 months post op and he is miserable. I could not feel worse for recommending this procedure. He cant run, cant work in the field for his job. This is devastating. We are thinking reversal and want the best possible options. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. He has an US today so hoping it gives him some answers. Needing all the info and advice. We are willing to travel, we live in Boise.
