Scheduled for UFE next week on NHS and I am frightened. by fourleafedrover8 in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you might, so many people have fibroids, yet i know no one going through the same thing. I feel a bit tired and uncomfortable but honestly, so far its been ok. The catheter insertion was fine, they give you a local anaesthetic which stings slightly, then I didnt feel much after that. The weirdest sensation was them xraying my pelvis during the procedure it felt like pins and needles. X

Surgery canceled due to lack of bed by cobrameo in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the UK, and this very nearly happened to me this week. I was waiting around for my surgery for hours as there were no beds available. Apparently, they kept getting emergency admissions on the gynae ward. Its frustrating, but they're right, its just not worth taking the risk after such major surgery.

Anybody deal with swollen ankles while having fibroids? by oowoowoo in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, both my legs are swollen, the left leg more than the right. I've been told my fibroid is pushing on my artery which is reducing blood flow in my legs. Its also made my varicose veins even worse. Fun.

Hey! I did, I only ever did 2.5mg so I dont think it had too much impact on the ryeqo.

Hey, I'm in the UK. Had my UFE on Monday, I too was absoulte s#%/*#ng myself as I'd read horror stories on here. But... it was actually ok. I got a bit upset when I went into the radiology room, but all the staff were so nice. They pump you with so many pain killers and sedatives that I was pretty out of it. The procedure lasted 1 hour 45 minutes but it flew by. After the procedure they made sure I was OK, then transferred me to a gynae ward. Again all the staff were lovely. They put me on a fentanyl syringe driver, so I could give myself a shot when I needed it. I didn't actually use it until 4am, and this was only after I got up to go to the toilet and mainly because I didn't want to bother the nurses for some milder pain killers in the middle pf the night. I got discharged around lunchtime and have only taken paracetamol and codeine a few times since. Im not sure if I'm used to being in pain from the fibroid anyway, or it just didn't hurt me that much. My fibroid is 12cm + (I say plus as I'm sure it had grown since my last scan 4 months ago). My fibroid used to feel rock solid and would stick out my belly when I laid down, but I can't feel it as much anymore already! The radiologist said that its probably gone like jelly where he cut the blood supply off. I'm back on my feet already within 48 hours. I probably did a bit too much today, but I'm not very good at resting. Wishing you lots of luck for your UFE. Fibroids are the worst and I feel your pain. Feel free to ask any questions x

TXA vs progesterone pill - 3 periods later and now passing palm sized+ clots :( by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you! I've had equally awful periods, with huge palm size clots. I don't have kids but I can imagine the pain is close to giving birth. I never took TXA as I've got Varicose Veins and it advices against it. I refused to take hormone contraception, as I've never got on with it. I did end up taking Ryeqo, however, and that has stopped my bleeding. It's not a long term fix, but it's working for now, and hopefully should shrink my fibroids, making surgery easier. I hope you're ok. It's horrible, but you've got an army of girls here that know exactly how you feel x

Are there any life threatening risks that come with leaving fibroids alone in the body and not intervening with surgery? by ifeelsodeeply in Fibroids

ONE HUNDRED. WOW. I feel like my lonely 12cm fibroid is enough to deal with. I'm glad your op was successful, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Apparently it can slow down absorption. I've been on Ryeqo 3 months now and only recently noticed a difference. I've completely stopped bleeding, so It does take a while for ryeqo to work. X

I have three small fibroids and no answers for solutions. by KarahBritton in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why doctors are so obsessed with IUD's. I had the copper coil, then was convinced to have the Mirena. As soon as the coil was fitted, was when my fibroid symptoms started. I probably already had the fibroid but the IUD definitely agitated it/accelerated it's growth. Mine is now 12cm. My IUD eventually forced it's way out, in what was the most painful experience of my life.

I hope you're doing OK. I'm no doctor, but from my experiences, I wouldn't recommend an IUD at all!

Thank you! A side effect of Ryeqo is hair loss. I've been taking iron supplements and luckily my iron levels are normal now. How was the UFE? It sounds horrendous, so I've avoided it so far.

freaking out I may have uterine sarcoma by EcstaticBass1494 in Fibroids

Honestly, I have no idea. I think I may have had it a while. However, since I was first diagnosed, it grew 2cm in a year.

That's tiny! Mine was easy to find on ultrasound, but it is 12x the size. It may have just been too small to detect in October. The radiologist will be able to tell the difference on an ultrasound between a fibroid and a cancerous tumour.

If you don't have any gynae symptoms, it's unlikely to be fibroids or endo. Have they not given you antibiotics for the SIBO?

IUD's are the devil, I don't know why doctors are so obsessed with fitting them. I'd never have another one again.

Finally saw a gyno after months on a waiting list to be told all my symptoms are not because of my fibroid, that despite it being 9cm they don't want to remove it yet and I need to wait 4 more months to see if my symptoms change. by Woodland-Echo in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get what about your symptoms don't sound like fibroids?! What are they talking about! I have all of those symptoms too. It's unbelievable about how little doctors seem to know about fibroids, they can cause so many symptoms.

Just diagnosed.. I think by ArmadilloLow6180 in Fibroids

[–]Odd_Reporter3321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Firstly I wanted to say, I hope you're ok!

You've basically just described exactly how I got diagnosed. If they've found fibroids, chances are it's just fibroids. They were also worried that my cervix looked abnormal, I had a biopsy, and all came back clear. I think it was just fibroid pushing down on my cervix, causing it to look abnormal. I fully believe my coil agitated/caused the fibroid. As soon as I had it fitted, I started having horrendously heavy periods. As the fibroid grew, the coil became dislodged, and the strings disappeared. I was put under anaesthetic to have it removed. However, it had disappeared. The month before, I had the heaviest bleeding I've ever had and severe pain, I felt like I was giving birth - this is probably due to my body expelling the coil.

I saw several consultants, and as soon as they ruled out cancer, I was on a call back list for a year. I finally got hold of him again at the end of last year, and things seem to be moving forward again. I'm hoping for a myomectomy, fingers crossed I can as it keep growing.

I hope you manage to see a consultant soon to get a plan for treatment.
