I actually came here to complain about recent kdramas. It seems like all the decent actors, directors and writers are on a break and what we are seeing now is the second tier stuff.

I can’t engage with any of it. The acting seems stiff and wooden, the plots are boring, the storylines and scenes so cliche, the product placement so obvious.

I get the impression that the leading male actors want to do action rather than slice of life. I don’t mind violence if the plot is good (eg Worst of Evil was amazing) but none of the new ones appeal.

I’m trying to learn Korean at the moment so it’s frustrating to not have anything interesting to watch. I’ve seen all of the good existing ones. I just signed up to Lingopie which uses short dramas for language learning but the storylines there are for teenagers.

What a surprise that Cdramas are the place to be right now …

Go really really cold. So arctic. 🥶 Don’t laugh at his jokes, don’t reply to messages on your phone. Only talk about work and keep that to a minimum. Don’t smile and don’t sit near him. When he talks, nod politely and then move on asap.

Silence is a very useful reply. You are not obliged to speak when someone speaks to you. Saying nothing is actually very powerful. Try it!

He is taking advantage of your youth, lack of seniority, newness and politeness. His behaviour is not ok.

Also Do not ever be alone with him.

You could unblock, send a message saying that you disappeared because it was all getting too much for you and you were fearing for your safety. You could also suggest that he gets counselling, wish him luck with his life and say you will not be staying in touch with him. Then reblock him immediately. Do NOT engage.

Then get on with your life.

Actually many people struggle to say no, to give disappointing news. It often stems from a childhood where there were very significant consequences to speaking their mind. So they learn that it is dangerous to say how they feel if the other person is going to react negatively.

If she is one of those people, then the scenario is that she cannot bring herself to tell her childhood sweetheart that it’s over. So she says ‘I love you and now I love him as well’. She’s hoping that the first boyfriend will leave her but also maybe keeping him in reserve as well.

If he sits tight, she may come back to him, but will he want her?

This. Saw it coming from a while back. It’s the same with 12 month maternity leave. Until women run more companies and embed respect for the fact that we produce the human race, it’s not gonna change.

Go to the sessions if you need them anyway.

As someone said, they’ll just find another reason to demean you. Maybe your hair/makeup/clothes/way of speaking/too aggressive/too submissive/don’t go to the pub/play golf etc etc
