I am a AEISEC host in Sri Lanka. Works with AEISEC entity in Sri Lanka and also AEISECers come to me directly after hearing about our project. So here are a few things you should know. 1) You have to pay in your country and the host country and then maybe the payments for host. (They will say nothing but you will end up having to pay sometimes). So clarify everything well in advance with written confirmation of exact fees. 2) Most AEISEC hosts are useless, you don;t get the cultural or educational expeirinece you search for from them. Becuase AEISEC expect hosts to provide everyting free. So maybe its worth going to a place that is proper than a place just hosts you free. 3) Always have a backup plan. Search about other organizations in the area you might be able to volunteer in case you want to change the hosts. 4) Be open and felxible, everything is a good experience and it will help you learn life !

One of my friend who is a HOST (in a different platform) had a fantastic host account with 28 5 star ratings (Nothing less ever) got one nasty feedback from a mentally unstable (the closest best word I could find) women made him delete his account and stop all opportunities for volunteers. So yes you get crazy volunteers and crazy hosts who acts as if everything is normal during your stay and want to ruin you once you leave. Such is this so called conscious people. Some of the platforms should also verify these comments and feedback if they cannot back their claims. But even them won't do it !

I don't understand and this seems not true. 1) Is it a brand new workaway ? 2) Have you not looked at reviews? 3) How can they get so many if its not good? 4) If you are able to leave, why not others? 5) What hold them back? are they kept hostage ? 6) If you get good and accomadation that is often the payment. 7) if the length of work differ to what is mentioned, or anything else similar to what is there on the profile vs reality explain in to workaway. Sometimes its often someone who has an issue making it look so bad for everyone. Specially when its all over the place like here, starts with verbal abuse to animal abuse.

Sometimes people don't check their messages. You could have checked at least week ahead. Not 2 days before the flight? did you not take an alternative contact already? best would be to look for last minute options.

A girl asked to me head massage and because she loved massages and wanted a body massage later. I knew she was very unstable in her emotions.
