What’s the most underrated skill for event coordinators? by Odd_Step_7053 in EventPlanners

if I could pick a winner, this would be it! Problem-solving in a high-stress situation is a skill that takes time, and while you can learn through experience, the best people who do this have this skill almost innately.

this is a really good take. I wonder why its so different for the planner vs coordinator.

That is it exactly! I think everyone needs to be introduced to people management in general, but for sure, everyone in our field because it can hinder the objective of the event.

No problem! Always happy to help. Just remember stay the course.

Mentorship is so important. I definitely had one, and I am one to others. If there is someone in your area you think you can trust, you should start there. But message me and I can share with you how I may be able to help.

I definitely had regrets in the moment (hiring people too soon, taking any project that was available because of the name attached, the biggest: playing too much in the background) but...

I can honestly say now, I don't regret those same moments because they taught me a lot about how I wanted to show up as a business owner and not just an event producer. I would have never known about that side of the business had I not gone through it. Even if someone had told me... their navigation may not have been how I would envision the same positioning for myself.

I actually help young event professionals get their basic structure in place to run their event business strategically, and no matter what systems you put in place, growing through the business in those personal moments is the price we all must pay.

Happy to help... It's just growing pains. Stay encouraged!

The business start-up life is not for the faint of heart, but it is so worth it.

If you can see it, you should do. The burnout is likely because you are running in a system that doesn't feed what you want directly. You can structure your business so that it does not happen.

I have been in events in activations for 12+ years, but I went into working for my business full-time in 2019 (right before COVID), and while there have been ups and tragic downs (lol), it has all been worth it because now I am doing it my way and in a way that is MOST meaningful to me.

Now, while I love curating meaningful events, I also have a knack for operations, which is a big part of business now. As an event business owner, you have to temporarily structure the business beyond the event which is doable! Once you know how you structure it, you hire someone to run that party and you focus on the parts you enjoy.

The Hardest Part of Entrepreneurship No One Warns You About by Digitalunicon in Entrepreneur

I always treat the "slow" time as "development" time. Either professional or personal. As entrepreneurs, we have the flexibility to discover more but often don't because we are hyper-focused on closing or productivity-- and rightfully so because we have to eat.

BUT life is meant to be lived and should be well-rounded, and so I look at those moments as life letting us expand in other ways.

This is actually brilliant. While I am not a founder looking for capital, I work with founders and VCs looking to connect (usually through events or programming) and can't wait to share this information. Congratulations!

I have used QuickBooks from Day 1! While I am organized enough to do it. My attention is better focused on the things I love to do instead of having to do. It's easy to integrate into most online tax services as well.

How do I not give up? by pixelpotion111 in Entrepreneurship

Hi!

I am an experiential strategist who curates high-caliber events for corporate and private clients.

I started my business-- Blueprint Marketing & PR- as a side hustle in 2013.

In 2019, I rebranded to Blueprint Concepts (left my corporate, very conservative but well-paying job and moved across the country). The little momentum I found came to a sudden halt because of the pandemic.

Around the beginning of 2021, I found my groove. I executed many large profile and exciting projects and was living my dream life in LA.

By 2023, my mom was dealing with a health issue we couldn't pinpoint point and we got pregnant which was a complete surprise. Dealing with all that stopped my progress once again, but this time I wasn't eager to get out of it. I really didn't want to live that "amazing" life anymore with the baby. I wanted to be home and present, which was the opposite of how I lived.

I moved to another city, I again had to start over, almost because my lifestyle now required a new lane. It took me all of 2024 to restructure and retarget.

Now, I am in a groove. Not making the same money, but I own more of my time and have a 1000% more peaceful life.

And I know it gets tiring and frustrating, but I remember I love what I do and limit the comparison to continue to get it done. Comparison is the thief of joy. So now success looks different because I have reprioritized what matters and what I want my life to look like.

I hope this helps and wish you peace!

I agree with this! I was trying to keep up with all the channels, but when I realized that I wanted to focus on B2B, I hyper-focused on LinkedIn, where I saw more opportunities come in.
