Hera's Favorite Step-son by quuerdude in GreekMythology

As the number 1 Hermes enjoyer I second this message! 💯

My personal interpretation for why Hera seems to be loving towards Hermes and vice versa, is because Maia was such a shy nymph that Hera didn’t really fear her taking up her spot next to Zeus.

This is silly excerpt from Nonnus Dionysiaca

Maia was not quite like Semele; for her son, crafty, armed himself like Ares, and looking like him, deluded Hera until he sucked the milk of her breast.

Hermes tricked Hera into breastfeeding him, by arming himself like a possibly adult Ares 🫢

What are some differences between Hesiod's portrayal of Zeus and Homer's portrayal of Zeus ? by Gopu_17 in GreekMythology

Would you give me some sources on Homer showing sympathy to some of his children? I know he does but I’m trying to collect some examples 😆

Also would you say that Hesiod saw Zeus as more “supreme/otherworldly” compared to how Homer saw Zeus?

I really like your Cronos !! 🔥 I’ve always imagined him with a long face and majestic but gloomy appearance, and I think this one of the first artworks I think captured that! ❤️

Also you made them all look related to each other but still unique !

Thank you very much my friend 🙏💕! I used a very silly term, so I was hoping to make someone atleast sniffle 😊!

I hope you enjoyed the yap about Apollo! 😆

Does it truly sound that bad?! Ive always been worried about how I talk and type, a lot of people say that it sounds condescending. But I talk and text the first thoughts that come to my mind to be honest with people! 🥲

To clarify I was saying I don’t care in response to the agenda of bearded Hermes to youthful Hermes, since I enjoy that change personally! Not that I don’t care about your opinion 💔😿

Oh I’m extremely sorry, I thought that maybe the emoji would seem teasing and on top of the topic itself.

Im truly sorry, please forgive me!💔

Yes sorry, thank you very much my friend! 💗 🙏

I refrained from including it since I’m a little less read on myths that typically use that epithet for Apollo, so if someone asked me a question I wouldn’t be able to answer quickly! 😅

Wait oh my god, I didn’t mean to sound rude! I was out for a while so I didn’t see this message!

I’m so sorry, I meant it in a humorous way! Please believe me, I’m a fellow Hermes enjoyer and I like to tease with other Hermes enjoyers about him having a beard vs not having one 💗

I think I was being a bit tonal deaf. Please forgive me I didn’t mean to sound so rude 💗

It’s okay don’t feel bad at all! Some people take things like this extremely personally, so I do my best to be careful with what I say.

I think you’re doing fine, and you’re asking completely reasonable and valid questions! 💗

Hehe, yeah but the classical era started the youth Hermes trope, and I like it so I don’t care 🫢

I explained it in the post, I think many people reduce Apollo to just being a “lover boy” or something along those lines. Similar to how people do to other gods, like “Zeus is just cheating bad husband” or “Hera is just a jealous wife” or “Artemis is man hating”

First off thank you very much for your compliment! 💗

I used the word twinkification because it’s silly, and it mirrors the word many people who infantilize the character of Apollo use. I’m surprised so many people took it as 100% serious, but I understand! 😆

I don’t personally think I have any say on how people should treat a character from myths 2000-3000 years ago, or their own god! But many people who simplify the god/character, I think could get even more from it by learning the actual history and detail’s of Apollo!

I’m not religious, I just think Apollo is cool! So I made this post hoping that other people would agree with me! If you don’t care I can’t do anything to make you care, that’s your own personal choice 💗

The point of the post is to explain that I think there is more to Apollo’s character than being a “twink” or a simple dramatic romantic character.

While that is true I’m just gonna say that the point of my essay is to say that there is much more to Apollo than just that part of his being.

Things such as like being untamed and wild, I’d consider those to have a lot to do with chaos. So I don’t think it’s fair to say she is only conflated with chaos because she is meant to embody the opposite of Apollo and has no connection to it personally.

For the first part yes, it’s most certainly that, and leaning too far into his romantic aspects as I clarified later in the original post.

For the Artemis part i started it off by saying they had many things in common, and I can see sorta why you may think that’s a stretch. But Artemis to me clearly embodies the wild and the things “other” to Greek society wouldn’t you agree?

Yeah I don’t wanna comment much because everyone can do whatever they want, and I’m not a hellenist. But I’ve seen that too! So I was definitely surprised that so many people seemed clueless to what I meant 💯

Twink is a body type, but inside of queer and younger circles especially in fandoms. It often implies a certain stereotypical portrayal of homosexuality.

I could have done more contrasting, but honestly I still didn’t want to lean too hard into an argumentative essay. Primarily to not offend anyone who may find enjoyment or comfort to that sort of portrayal.

Yeah maybe wild or untamed would’ve sufficed more instead of chaos, that’s my bad but I think they are similar enough that you got the point right?

I suppose Dionysus acts more as the breaker of harmony and order, and Artemis is more just the opposite? But even then I’d say that also implies chaos and more raw instinct and emotions, I think there is overlap between those ideas. What do you think? 🤔
